I have an 06 EX and I am very pleased with it. The combination of features that the car has is incredible. I have been a fan of Honda since 1992. My 06' is the 4th. I have driven other vehicles out there and what Honda owners consider bugs other mf would consider excellent. I have a friend with an 02 Silverado that needed an new engine last christmas. The vehicle only had 24,000 miles on the odo. The thing of it is that all cars have there own quirks some have more than others. I have never had the lug bug and my shocks are fine along with my last tank I hit 40 mpg
I am happy.

There have been quite a few posts by owners on this issue but briefly on automatic sedans (maybe coupes too but I don't know) a harmonic vibrations occurs at approx. 1500 RPM in higher gears. In my case the noise which is a lower pitched "growl" occurs anytime I pass through the 1500 RPM engine speed in any gear. The noise is very noticeable on most cars but varies in intensity on individual cars. Search for this topic for more information.

It is great that your particular car has no issues but mine does. Admittedly they are not terrible but for $20K the Civic is on the ragged edge, price wise, of larger, more comfortable, more powerful, more feature laden, vehicles and except for very good fuel economy, a stellar safety rating, and what I consider beautiful styling, doesn't show me that much, quality wise, especially for a Honda. I don't consider noisy valve trains, downtime, replacing cylinder heads as some have reported, "a quirk" it is a basic engineering issue. Isn't this a "new" engine design? As I have said I don't hate the car but I am starting to wonder about my choice of cars.

My Honda LX Automatic 2006 is the BEST. I just brake in 5,000 mile. I was going to the dealership for oil change and check-up. Funny thing, the dealership told me I don't need it til my oil gauge indicate less 15%. I never heard a dealership turn down my money. They seem very honest to me. I'm getting 31 miles per gallon. I have no problems beside little tiny road nick on front bumper. Anyone have any suggestion with that problems? I tried to wax it allots at that location. It have reduce some problem.

get the oil changed anyway. i noticed that my engine after its first 5000 miles made a slightly harsher, raspier? engine sound before i changed it. after i put a semi-synthetic oil (royal purple) oil back in, it purrrred. plus my mpg went up.

and if nothing else, its easier to keep track of oil changes every 5K.

as for the nicks, 3M makes a paint protectant film that goes over the paint like a decal, but its clear. i used it on my hood since my concern is rust from a PA winter salt. you can get them precut (for a small fortune) or buy it by the roll (still not cheap, but a heck of a lot cheaper than precut) Try your paint store.

something else that looks intriguing but i haven't checked into yet. Griot's Garage sells something called spray-on bra (or something like that). apparently it peels off easily enough, but not by itself. around $20.00 a can. This is obviously in lieu of a real bra, which you really don't want since they can do as much harm as good.

Is anybody telling American Honda about these issues (the 1,500rpm engine noise and the bad shocks and wind noise etc)? If so what do they say?

Hi all:
not sure if this is the right category for this type of question. But here it is, I am interested in buying a 2006 civic. I will be in NY for 4-5 wks and is moving to CA. I don't mind driving the car to CA, but what would be some of the advantages and disadvantages of buying in NY versus in CA. thanks for any inputs.

Thanks hangaralf1

Your advice very helpful. I'm leaning more to 3M protective film.

I am very happy with my LX sedan despite the following few issues.

#1 Alignment was fixed by dealer and car still pulls to the right on a flat level road when off the gas and off the steering wheel

#2 I still have a very noticeable gap difference between the front fenders and tires and the rear fenders and tires which no one yet has checked on their LX to confirm if it's only a problem with my car

#3 My car still hops around quite a bit in the rear on broken pavement and bumps.

All in all I love the car and took in camping up state new york and the car performed excellently on twisty winding roads and went up pretty steep roads without any problems.

I have broken the 1000 miles mark and all is well other than the few things mentioned above.

We all have to remember there are always bugs in newly redesigned cars and this is the chance we take when we purchase first year in, etc.
