#1713 of 4597 I sat in an EX Sedan today...

I was amazed at the room in this car versus my 1996 Accord. It is slightly MORE roomy than my car. Very nice to me, since I am 6'5", 195 pounds. It had the sunroof (EX), and I had plenty of headroom. I couldn't say that of the 04 Civic I rode in. As far as the interior design goes, I was INCREDIBLY surprised for the better after seeing it in person. The wheel is nice and small, and could be adjusted for MY long torso to see all gauges properly. BRAVO, HONDA!!!

Light interior colors and lots of glass make the interior look larger than it really is. I doubt it's actually larger, considering the 1996 Accord is an inch wider, eight inches longer, and has more trunk space and a much larger engine in displacement. It's not likely you could fit more interior room into the Civic...but...you may be right. I just think the odds are against it. I suppose it's more important to think you have more room than to actually have more room, right? Comfort is all perception! Like I always say...I'd rather think I'm happy than to know I'm sad.
Did the windshield come up to your forehead?
#1715 of 4597 It'a really the "heart in the mouth moment" I hate

I really thought my car already hit the object. Thank God it didn't...
To be honest, I did (or about to) stick flag poles on both sides of my front bumper of all my cars except the old boxy '84 Jetta. I even place a little marker on the right rear corner of my trunk (just like an '91 S-class) if it doesn't have a rear spoiler. People are amazed how I perform especially in parking lots -- fewer backing up than anyone else!

Don't forget to use a throwaway email address instead of your normal one. That will cut down on junk messages.
#1718 of 4597 Drove an 06 Civic Ex Auto 4 Door today

Really nice little car. No squeaks or rattles, smooth ride, nice shifting auto, but this car has no power compared to my 05 Accord EX V6 Coupe which gets 32 MPG on the hiway at the speed limit, and I would gladly pay the 8 MPG penalty to have the Accords performance. Trying to pass on a two lane hiway with the Civic is an exercise in terror, it takes too long. I will just keep what I have and be happy. 9.5 to sixty is just too slow in todays traffic. The Accord is almost 3 seconds quicker, and is well worth the extra fuel cost, and the better suspension and interior quality is worth the price of admission. This is, of course, my opinion, and others will probably see it differently, but then, this is a country where one has a choice.
#1719 of 4597 Civic Live Test Drive Event
Sep 18, 2005 (11:43 am)
My wife and I just got back from Honda Corporate's Civic Live Guest Drive event at Randall's Island in NYC this morning. It was their second of two days. They are headed for five more cities here:
It was a blast! We arrived at 9 AM and drove the 2006 EX ATX Sedan with Navigation, LX ATX Coupe and a pre-production Si 6-Speed MTX Coupe.... MULTIPLE TIMES around the twisties at the test track they had set up in a huge parking lot. Since there were only a few people there that early, we had plenty of opportunities to swap back and forth between any of the cars. They had a second track set up where we drove an Accord ATX Hybrid, Accord 6-Speed MTX Coupe and Ridgeline truck (That one was too mushy for me). They also had Elements and Odysseys available.
I was very impressed with the handling, features and quality of all of the Civics. They felt much like my 2004 Accord Coupe, and had many of its amenities.
If you are near any of the next five events, I'd recommend going. You must pre-register online.
#1720 of 4597 Folding back seats question
Sep 18, 2005 (12:53 pm)
Those of you who have test-driven the new Civic, or maybe have seen the pictures, do the back seats fold completely flat, or not?

yes, it is a bottom hinged pedal and it is much more convenient to drive....

You could be right, yesroh. But in my car, I can't sit behind myself at all. In the Civic, all it took was a little squeezing. The windshield? Hmm, didn't pay a lot of attention to that, but the thing I noticed was how bent my knees were behind the wheel: Much less so that when I'm in my accord. My car IS wider, and you can feel that inside, but the length of the cabin is basically the same IMO. the trunk is much smaller than my accord though. I think that must be where the interior space was donated from.
BTW, the fact that the seat can be made higher meant more legroom for me. My LX accord (96) doesen't have any height adjustment to its seat, meaning I am on the ground all the time. If it would jack up three inches, I would be more comfy. I have plenty of headroom to do that, too!
