"I'm seeing more M35x on lots than regular 2wd M35. Why is that?"

I guess it is because nobody what the M35x, and the regular M35s are sold faster and what left are the M35x. The same goes for the sports vs. non-sports IMO. The suspension in the M is so good, you really do not need the sports package. Sure, it will make the car handles marginally better, but it will make the ride harsh. It is not really worth it. Again, IMO. If you happen to prefer the sports package, it is almost free (well maybe $500 more while it cost $2000 when new).

Thank you for the information. I'm seeing 2006 M35s go as low as $19,990 and as high as $34,000. The dealerships are the higher priced ones, the places like texasdirectauto.com and texasonlineauto.com etc. are the cheaper ones. I want to pay the lower price, I'm just nervous about what i'm getting with the ma' and pa' stores.

Well, it is not necessarily bad to get a car from an independant store. But, if you have extensive car repair / maintenance knowledge, so by inspecting the car and test drive it, you can spot most of the issues if there is any. It would also be a good idea to take the car to another repair shop to have it inspected.

Buying a car is like an investment (especially used cars). If you want to get a better deal, you most probably will assume higher risk. The chance of getting a better deal depends on your luck and knowledge - just like when buying stocks.

On the other hand, if you buy it from dealership, you can be rest assured that the car will be in very good shape and most probably will be backed by the dealership in case anything goes wrong. If it were me, I would try negotiate a good deal from the infiniti dealer (Maybe get an extended warranty at a discount price). It is a luxury car and it is worth to pay a little bit extra to get the peace of mind when you drive it hard or relaxed, IMO.

I'm going to Dallas next weekend. If you know of any good dealerships there let me know. The prices in Dallas are a lot better than the prices here in Austin (Dealership or independant). Wish me luck!

For infiniti dealers, I would highly recommend Sewell Infiniti (for overall experiences) and Crest Infiniti (for competitive price). Since you are from Austin, it is unlikely you will want your car to be serviced at the dealer you buy (if from Dallas).

If you want a used one, Budget car sales of Dallas and International Motor Production are the two I recommend - not sure if about their current inventory though. You can do some on-line search before you come down. What model you are looking to buy? New or Pre-owned?

Good luck either way.

I am looking at a 2008 M35 with 12,000 miles for $28,000. Seems like a good deal to me. Anybody have a thought on this?

Thanks.

Seems fair,I had looked at a fully loaded M45X ,12000 miles. They wanted 42,500.My feeling was that was more than I wanted to pay.The new 2008's 35X are going at 41,500 with Tech and Adv. tech.If the car you are looking at is in good condition and you don't need AWD then 28,000 I would think is a good price.I feel cars will only be worth less in the coming year.

I was quoted $36,000 for for '08 M35x Base car no nav. Instead I bought a moonlight white with black interior for '08 M35x with tech package, 15K miles and in mint condition for $31K. If you do not need AWD I have seen used 35X for $26-$28K. Good luck. I bought mine 2 weeks ago and I LOVE it.
