I got a quote for $38,900 + TTL for a new 2008 M35X (Technology). The MSRP is $49,815. It does not have the xenon lights, but I can probably live with out those if I have to.
Does this seem reasonable to you?
Also, can the xenon lamps be installed as a dealer option later?

The M35X seems high. I just bought an one w/tech, xenon, cargo mat, splash guards for $41,450 OTD.

I would definitely go with the M45. The M35 is fast, but the smoothness and rocket like acceleration of the M45 is no match. When I was shopping for the M, I test drove the M35 and M45 back and forth several times and try to save some $$ by getting the M35, but had a hard time every chance I test drove either - even there are some sweet offers from M35. So, I have to settle with the M45 (Paid $7k more and to date, I still think it worth ever dollar I paid). Just do yourself a favor and test both of them out. The choice is obvious if you are buying the M for its performance.

M35 vs M45

I guess it depends on why you are buying the car, and how much money you want to pay. I think that the M45 price is too high, but then again so is the M35, unless that price comes with 0.9% financing. I believe that there is also a gas guzzler tax on the 45.
To all of you out there with 35x prices less than 42,000, r u getting any special financing from Infiniti?

With the above advice I will test drive both and lean towards the M45X and negotiate for a better price.I just don't see a lot of auto sales at 40k or above with the current economy. Thanks

There is no gas guzzler tax for the M45. The gas mileage on M45 is rated 16/21 while the M35X is at 16/22 and M35 is 17/23. So, there is not really much difference. But, the performance gain is huge. But again, it depends on how much performance you want and how much money you want to spend / can afford.
I guess the price for any luxury car are too high if you look at what you get. With $42k, you can get yourself 2 Nissan Altima SL. Just as the name indicated, it is for luxury and you need to pay extra to get luxury. If it comes at a price that everyone can afford, it is not luxury any more. The same goes to premium, exotic, etc...

Just FYI, if you build your own M on the Infiniti website, the M45 has no gas guzzler tax, but the M45X having slightly worse gas mileage adds a $1,300 gas guzzler tax.
