AC not cold enough by hc72
Sep 05, 2004 (5:57 pm)
Is your AC cold enough? I just got the car 2 days ago. I took it out this afternoon and turned on the AC. It is only 72F outside, ~80 inside. The AC gets going but it is just cool and not cold. I have both my sun shades closed and AC in circulation. This is going to be a problem next summer when it gets real hot. Are any of you having the same problem?

Did Toyota put in the Echo AC system as in xA and xB? Anyone knows whether a Camry AC system is retrofitable?

I got the tC pics from genee and the car looks great! I forwarded them to my son in Florida just in case he decides to add it to his car later on. Thanks genee. I hope everyone else enjoys them like I did.

Leather pics by genee
Sep 06, 2004 (11:02 am)
People keep asking for pics of the leather interior on my tC. I cannot send them while your email address is "private." You have to edit your profile so your address is posted. (It does NOT appear in the messages .. just to those who look it up.) Post it for 24 hrs and then change your profile back to "private" status. Tuffyleung, I will send you detailed info -dealer, etc. - when I have your address. I don't think the forum is the place to post such items for public perusal. I hope you have a fast connection because there are about seven shots ...

Hi genee,

Can you add me to the list of those wanting to see the leather pics? I'm trying to decide if I should install on my Azure Pearl.

Thank you kindly!

Check the clock on your computer. It says you posted this more than an HOUR FROM now. Oh! Check your profile again, too. It still says "private" for email.

OK. The posting times are EDT. But your profile needs changing for me to send you the pictures.

Shift Popping Out of 3rd Gear by shifter
Sep 08, 2004 (9:45 am)
I've had my tC for about a week, and while I love the car, the shifter pops out of 3rd gear when the engine is under a lot of torque (e.g. accelerating up a hill or "punching" the gas in 3rd gear. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I can watched the shifter as it slowly slips back and out of 3rd into neutral.

I agree with the other posts that the tC is hard to shift smoothly. My concern is that the engine may have too much torque for the tC shift linkages.

I have the tC in the shop now, just curious if anyone else had the same problem.

VVTi-variable valve timing with intelligence.

No biggie here, more than just Toyota and Porsche have Variable valve timing. BMW has VANOS, Honda has VTEC and now iVTEC, Cadillac has variable valve timing.

BMW's is probably the most advanced out of all. And Honda's is better in a way than Toyota's also, because it controls intake and exhaust valves, Toyota's VVTi only does intake valves.

Can't say that I have had any problems with the shifter. Sounds like it might be an adjustment issue. But, I haven't really hammered it in 3rd gear either that I can recall. I will test it out next time that I get a chance.

Make sure to post whatever answer you get from the dealer.

Also, I have been noticing (not noticing?) that the rev hold while upshifting issue is much less prevelant lately. Not sure if it is just the car getting broken in or adapting to my driving, but it seems to be much less noticable when it is cooler and less humid. Wonder if it is related to atmospheric conditions (as part of the computer mapping), and for some reasons holds the revs slightly under these conditions?
