I just bought a 2003 E320 w/ panorama roof. Don't worry about the sun, etc. If it bothers you then you can always clothes the roof to cover the moon roof.

I am still trying to figure out how everthing works in my car .. I don't know what half the buttons do, today I just found a new compartment after I've had the car for over a month =P

Does anyone know about how much it cost to hook up the phone and emergency systems?

The Oil Companies and our congress are playing games just like they did in 1973 and 1974.

I have a 2005 E320 CDI with the EXACT same problem that developed over the past few days. NO biodiesel has been used by me (only Exxon or Shell).

Waiting for the dealer to call. I saw with interest the drive-by-wire comments. Perhaps there is a faulty sensor regarding the brakes (i.e., the engine thinks you're braking when you're not). I know there is a brake recall for the 2005 E320.

But basically, I don't think this is a transmission problem.

The reason is, if I put the car in neutral or park, I can't get the RPM's over 3000. It is almost as though a throttle limiter is in effect. Turn the car off for a few minutes and it's perfectly fine.

No performance issue, as a matter of fact I really like the performance. I believe that I get better performance than from my 2000 E430, which I traded for this one. Going uphill on long stretches of the interstate, this car feels so effortless, same in the mountains of Colorado. I had a problem with the climate control, which was fixed by replacing the control unit for the climate control. This car is great. BTW, I read yesterday that here in central Texas Shell is going to start marketing B20 diesel, which means 20% is bio diesel. Now I have to see if MBUSA will approve this fuel or not.

Thanks. Well I picked up an '06 320cdi yesterday in Barolo Red. Just two days and very happy so far. First MB although I have a Chrysler Crossfire. I'm not familiar with B20 but I have read here about issues with MB warranty voidance for not using standard diesel type 2. What are the advantages of B20? Does it make sense for owners to contact/lobby for acceptance of this type of diesel fuel? I would be happy to do so - assuming this is a viable vehicle.

I will leave the details of the advantages of burning Biodiesel in your vehicle to those with more knowledge, but off the top, Biodiesel is a renewable resource, greenhouse neutral (since CO2 is consumed by the plants that produce it), and can be produced in this country. Thus it both helps reduce greenhouse gas production and helps reduce our dependence on imported oil.

Biodiesel generally is made from crops like Soybeans that are less damaging to the environment than corn. It is also made from used cooking oil. It is a very good fuel with only a few negatives. It does need to be used in warmer climates in the winter, or mixed with number one diesel. There is little or no loss of MPG with biodiesel. I believe you should contact BioWIllie with the warranty issue on the E3230 CDI. He drives one on B100.

2006 CDI by vl39

I have had my 2006 CDI for several months and 3000 miles.

We also have a 98 E300 TD and it was the best car I have ever owned, considering performance, handling, economy, and appearance. The 98 has never had a maintenance problem until recently, and we just changed the front disc pads at 130,000 miles. We recently changed the glow plugs and a leaking unit on the fuel pump for a total of $1500 over the 8 years and 130,000 miles.

Howevwer, the 2006 CDI is a much better car than the 98. It has a better ride and the fuel mileage at this point is 15% to 20% better, 35 plus mpg at 70 mph and 33 plus at 75 mph. I bought the car with all options and everything is working beyond my expectation. If one has $50 to $60k to spend on an automobile, I can't imagine them buying anything but an E class diesel.

I have asked MBUSA about biodiesel, and I am told that B5 can be used in MB diesel. My problem is I can only find B10 or higher in the Midwest.

What's the story with Biodiesel and warrantees? by bhill2

Because the topic of warrantees being voided by using Biodiesel has been discussed here, I will use this forum to try to get a question answered. Most (all?) manufacturers of diesel vehicles seem to prohibit the use of Biodiesel. Why? I can see them not wanting to fix engines damaged by the use of Biodiesel produced privately using a discarded water heater. Is that their concern? However, my understanding is that commercially sold Biodiesel has to meet similar standards to petro-diesel. Am I right? If that is the case, maybe we could work on the manufactures of the vehicles to allow the use of commercially available Biodiesel. If there is some other reason that Biodiesel might cause problems, then we have to address that.
