Replying to: backy (Mar 10, 2005 1:54 pm) Prius: 10.2 secs. (full charge) Perhaps the Civic "feels" quicker because its smaller engine revs higher . Yeah well, that's what I said. Civic FEELS faster, and that's why I prefer it. I prefer manual shifting too. However, I dispute your numbers. Car&Driver tests (fully charged) show: Civic cvt = 11.0 Prius cvt = 11.3 Essentially Equal. Troy

I have an HCH 5-speed....Anyone in a Prius want to meet me somewhere in Phoenix for a 0-60 drag race? Bring It On, Hybrid Synergy Boys !!! |

Thanks for pointing out Motor Trend. Look at their 0-60 figures for an empty battery: CIVIC = 12.8 PRIUS = 15.0 troy

Whatever. I said I prefer the manual shift. Prius doesn't have manual. So it's obvious I wouldn't pick it. troy

Replying to: stevedebi (Mar 17, 2005 1:33 pm) And then ,there is the potential future problem, Battery failure! Maybe just a cel or module, but failure of the traction battery system. Most cars are too new to experince this yet, but fast forwre to 2010 or 2015 and this will be a big discussion topic. In fact, you might not see a total failure, but you might eperince the partial charge sysndrome, wherby the traction battery under the best hyper mileage conditions will only maintain a partial charge, maybe 90%, maybe 80%, Maybe 70%. who knows. If so, then maybe it would deplete under normal driving. Anyway why worry, if it happens it happens, I heard one Prius advocate expounds that the battery will last for ever becuase it is almost never used! Maybe it will and maybe it won't Good Luck and best of wishes, MidCow the Manual Shift Man
