Also have a '07 Impala SS, Black on Ebony. Love the car, just changed the oil at 1,000 miles with Mobil 1 5W30. The only thing that bugs me is the fair sealing of the lower doors. Lets a good amount of dust and splashback into the door jambs. Also picked up a "Nickey" Chicago dealer sticker that I will be adding to the rear trunk lid, in place of my local dealer sticker. Will see how many people know or will comment on it. For those that don't know, Nickey Chevrolet was a Chicago based dealer that started installing 427 engines into Camaros, Novas etc in the late sixties. If you have an authentic Nickey car with documnetation and it is in decent condition, deep six figures for that car is not unheard of.

Bryan,
Thanks for your war service from a recently retired (20 1/2yrs) zoomie (that's air force for you non-mil types).
I only wish I was old enough to enjoy some of those older cars. I used to lust for a Chevelle and my best friend's older brother had one with a 396. Legend was he would put a $100 bill on the dash and if you could reach up and grab it while he accelerated it was yours. Although he never lost the $100, he did lose an engine or two. I also heard the 396 was powerful but not all that durable. But...wow, what a beautiful car. Wouldn't it be nice if Chevy brought that back to replace the Monte Carlo...maybe?

#2718 of 3634 2006 Impala Remote Start

I recently purchased a used 2006 Impala, it did not come with the remote start feature. Which I couldn't understand because it was a $30 option when ordered new. Because it is so inexpensive as an option I think the only difference between the models with and without is the kob or is there a modification that has to be made? If it is just changing the kob can anyone tell me what the sequence is to program it.

I have a 2007 Impala SS and I have 70 paint chips on my hood! The dealer won't fix them!

I know it wasn't a 283, because the '59 Bel-Air I grew up with had a 283 (3-speed w/overdrive), and I know it was a bigger engine than that. I think my dad said the best gas mileage he got in the '59 was
18 on the highway. Of course it didn't have air either, so a '58 w/the 348, air and a 2-speed probably wouldn't have been very economical.
I've got a 1980 El Camino sitting in my garage now...how long do you think I'll have to hold onto it for it to appreciate to $75k?

Unless you've put 50,000 miles on the car with all of them being while driving directly behind a gravel truck, there's no way you should have anything close to that number of chips. My 06 SS is 14 months old and I have 3 or 4 small ones, which I consider normal. The best thing to do would be to call Chevy customer service. It's amazing how things change when the service department gets a boot in the ass from corporate.
