The Impala SS chevrolets NAscar version of the car of tomorrow will race in 16 NASCAR races this year starting in Bristol TN. 2008 I believe it will run in 24 races. Sales of the current Monte Carlo have been dismal and the car discontinued in 2009. The Impala name plate was very popular in NASCAR racing from the late 50s through the early 60s. A Chevrolet Impala won the 1960 Daytona 500. The Impala has been very popular and GM is just building on its reputation. A chevy Impala commercial will be coming out around valentines day and it will show many pimped out Impalas from yesteryears in the commercial.

Hi nos, thanks for the input. I did call the dealer again today, and told them I need to see the proper documents, and paperwork on this vehicle. They will comply. Also, a different dealer looked up the vin number, and confirmed that the car was owned by a GM employee, got GM to Lemon Law it (manufacturer buyback), and all because the transmitter failed several times. Thanks again for the help! -Rob

It baffles my mind that GM would buy back a car because of a key Fob problem!! Seems to me there are several people here on this forum that could get there cars bought back from GM because of the key fob problem!!..Go for it!!! Unless the key Fob caught the car on fire or blew the engine and trans up......... amazing.....you might want to rethink the buying of this car if the key fob is that bad!!

Hi Bryan, I couldnt agree more about this darn transmitter problem. A different dealer filled me in on the information....he told me that most GM employees are so fickle and picky about the GM vehicles they buy. When they come across a problem, no matter how small, they get hot under the collar. Unfortunately, they lemoned the vehicle, made it a buyback car, branded the title and, after this dealer installed the new software, "correcting the issue", the car is ready for sale (or in my case, delivery!). I have weighed all the options so many times over these past few days....after what the "nice dealer" told me about the history of the car (confirming what this dealer said, but not showed on paper!), I think I am going to do it. I feel 100% better now knowing that I will be going to the dealer tomorrow morning with my eyes looking over the GM disclosures and documents BEFORE I hand over the check and keys to my car! If I still dont like what I see, well, its goodbye to them, and continue my search for a "clean" SS. I intend to keep this car for a very long time, so I am not too concerned about the resale value of a lemon car, but it has been on the top of my mind for quite some time. Any replies, as always, are very encouraged, and very appreciated. Thanks Bryan! -Rob

Rob, there have been several people here with key fob problem, where they've had it several times, still no fix! looks like their might be a few more buy backs after this!, if GM is doing favors for their employees by buying back their cars for the key fob problem, but not for the general public...looks like GM might be in for class-action law suit!! How bad is this key fob problem where GM has to buy the car back?....Blows the engine up? Sets the car on fire?....something stinks in Denmark!! If GM is doing favors for employees by buying back their cars and not doing it for the general public.......Attorneys will have field day with this one!!

and one more thing , Rob, If buy a car with a "branded" title , you will have one hell of a time ever selling it or trading it in!..Unless your certain 100% that you never want to get rid of this car.....why don't don't you just go after a '06 leftover?..brand new , no miles....lower prices?

If the fob is the only problem, and you plan to keep the car a long time, the branded title probably won't matter...by the time you've driven the car long enough to dispel any fears of the lemon law, it'll have too many miles to be worth much anyway!
I haven't priced an SS, but it sounds like you're getting a good deal...even if the fob goes out entirely and you have to use the old-school method of actually inserting the key in the door, it won't be too bad. Jog my memory though, does the current Impala have a key hole for the trunk, or do you have to use the remote (or the cabin button) to open the trunk? If the trunk button on the fob is also a problem, and you can't use the key to open the trunk either, it would probably annoy you every time you had to get inside the car to open the trunk.
