looks like I finally am getting another car. That's what I get for telling my sister that if she gets a new one I wanted dibs on her old one (hey, it would have been traded in otherwise. I might as well rip her off instead! j/k) anyway, she finally test drove a 2009 TSX and apparently fell in love, since she decided to buy on the spot instead of looking at other choices. Too bad I couldn't get her a offer price sooner, since I expect she paid too much. But she was happy. Actaully, I told her what I found on the prices paid board, and she got them to drop another $300, so it was worth the call. I am getting (or more accurately, my son) a 2000 Acura 3.2TL. 1 owner, no accidents, all dealer serviced. Even just got new motor mounts. They offered 2,000k, and yeah, i'll pay that. pretty clean car. Other than the DS bun warmer not working. It does have 145K on it, but hey, mostly highway. And it was maintained well. Plan A is to get it and sell the 1998 contour and get the kid into a safer car. Plan B is to temporarily go to 4 cars (3 drivers) and try to sell my accord. Then I will drive the TL on my 90 miles/day commute while I look for a deal (having cash in hand) on something new for me. shopping with money in the bank and no need to solicite a trade in quote, especially these days, is a good thing. Now I just have to figure out how to get a car from VA to NJ....

Replying to: michaell (Dec 11, 2008 11:43 am) I have friends coming by the house tomorrow night (going to see Wynona Judd in concert)... I'm not a country music fan but my friends got me a ticket. Anyway, I'm taking the Bentley if it doesn't rain. The little bit of rain we get in the desert is going to happen this week. One of the guys coming over currently has a GTC also. His is has a Black exterior, Black leather with white stitching. This guy (a friend of mine for 20 yrs) trades cars every two years but since he has 5 cars, it seems like he's getting one every 6 months. Currently, he has the 2008 Bentley GTC, a 2006 Range Rover, a 2007 Masserati Quatroporte and a 2007 BMW 6 series convertible and a 2008 Chrysler mini van for his business. I was just thinking, buying the motorhome when I did made good sense as the money in the money market would have fallen more than what the RV is worth (almost, LOL!).... and now, with the new GTC, it's truly an investment.... that hedge-fund that I took the money out of just went belly up! Replying to: roadburner (Dec 13, 2008 8:21 am) Today, in the BB ad.. 52" XBR6 plus Sony BlueRay player for $2350, interest-free for 18 months... I think this is the deal I was waiting for... Depending on my adult beverage intake at the Bengals game today, I may be going over there tonight.... but, more likely, tomorrow night...

Replying to: kyfdx (Dec 13, 2008 6:38 am) I dunno. Based on the amazon user reviews, & my seeing my friend's Panasonic plasma, I think plasma is the way to go for best picture quality. Esp. if it's your main movie-watching TV, & it's like your "home theatre" set-up. If it's more about lighter weight, less energy, & you're not going to sit around obsessing about the picture quality of new DVD releases of Czech New Wave films, LCD's can be very good of course. And if you can't get the 50" TV home in your current vehicle, you might have to buy a new/other truck or SUV as well.......sometimes sacrifices have to be made.....

Replying to: corvette (Dec 14, 2008 7:35 pm) Seriously though, the way the mutual-fund accounts have fallen in the last year, I'm glad I spent the money on something I wanted vs. just watching it disappear into thin air! Mark |

doesn't anyone talk about cars in here anymore? taking the 2000 3.2TL. For 2K, it is way nicer than what you normally find. And I should be able to flip the '98 contour and maybe even have some money left over! Not to mention a car I don't mind driving. 1 owner, all dealer serviced, completely known history. Even just had a service and fresh VA inspection, not that it does me any good (not living in VA!) I will however be up to 4 cars. Starting to approach Andre territory. Thinking about having a fire sale. I put them all on the market, and 1st one that gets for my asking price, goes. My wife might not appreciate selling her car out from under though... Better stick to listing the contour and Accord. 1st one to get a good price hits the road. The kid is hoping for the Contour, since if I move the Accord, I keep the TL for now and he doesn't get upgraded! I'm liking this new minimalistic bottom feeding plan. Cheap cars are, well, cheap! Also saw on a Volvo board a 2000 V40 (wagon) listed for $3,500. If it wasn't in SC I would have gone to take a look.
