A large newspaper reporter is looking to speak to consumers who went from owning a luxury car (BMW, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, etc.) to a premium non-luxury vehicle recently. If you purchased the vehicle using the Cash for Clunkers program, please let me know as well. Please send your daytime phone number and the vehicle you own to ctalati |

Hi carman, Hi kyfdx, Need some advice please. I've been looking at a CPO 2006 Silver Saab 9-3 with 35144 miles on it. It has sunroof and premium audio package. The dealer's advertised price is $16995 + tax, fees, and registration. I'm trying to get the price down. He's saying he can't go down lower than $17100 all in, out the door price. Is this a good deal?

Replying to: keitho8 (Aug 21, 2009 6:44 pm) I see '07 models at asking prices of $17K... They wouldn't be CPO, but with a little negotiation, you could probably get out the door for the same amount as your '06... Since an '07 is a year newer, you get more use out of the original warranty, offsetting some of the value of the CPO warranty on the '06.. I'd expand your search to include non-CPO cars, and use that as a measuring stick against your deal... that will also open up a lot more choices... regards, kyfdx |

Thanks. I was under the impression that a CPO of 2006 would be a better buy.. The warranty is for 6years or 100k miles?

I guess my main point... is that if you entertain that alternative, it's going to quadruple the number of cars that you can consider... giving you a better chance to get a better deal.. regards, kyfdx |

Thanks kyfdx. I have suggested to him $16800 all in, out the door price, CPO. If he accepts that price for this model and year, would I be doing good or bad please? According to Edmunds pricing I'm not sure.
