Replying to: kyfdx (Jun 18, 2005 7:35 am) kyfdx, the mileage allowance is 12K mi a year. Is a 48-mo lease really too long? I just think that for me it's about right because changing my vehicle every 4 yr seems okay. Thanks for your opinion and welcome some more.

Has anyone had any success negotiating down the price of a 9-3 Linear or ARC beyond the stated employee discount price? There just appears to be more room in the final price to get a better deal. I'm seeing in other boards that GM dealers are getting up to 5% holdback to move cars and still make money. Yet the dealer tells me they're only making $200 on each sale (which I don't believe for a minute). Something interesting also...my particular dealership has more DEMOS on the lot then new cars. He tells me the demos are not priced any different then the new cars because the employee discounts cut so deep into the prices (again I don't believe him). Figure this out...a demo 9-3 with some miles on it (but less then 6k) at the same price as a new one with less then 10 miles on it. Come on! There has to be negotiating room there. Anyone familiar with this? |

This is what I've been offered by the dealer. Can anyone tell me if this is good, bad or ugly based on your buying experience? What incentives and discounts are out there to be tacted on? I'm pre-approved at 4.95% for up to 60 months through my credit union as a straight purchase but it appears I can't get the incentives beyond employee discount without leasing. Am I missing something? 93 Linear: End price before TTL $21900 w/auto trans - no other upgrades Included discounts and rebates: Option 1 1) Employee Discount 2) $4500 lease incentive (48 month Option 2 - new price $23900 1) Employee discount 2) $2500 incentive (purchase) 93 ARC End price before TTL $26300 w/auto trans - no other upgrades Included Discounts and rebates Option 1 1) Employee discount 2) $3500 lease inccentive (48 months In each of the two car scenarios the dealer has slid in preparation and advertising costs equalling $500 total. I say get them out of there. The dealer also has demos on the lot that he says are going for the same price as new...there has to be wiggle room there. |

I believe Saab still quotes their leases with money factors, not interest rates.. Ask them for the money factor, then check it with Car_man on the Lease Questions board. regards, kyfdx |

I just bought a new 9-3 linear at Continental Motors in Oceanside, CA. Very good buying experience. Total transaction took about 20 minutes. I paid the price you get at the GM site under the new employee discount, plus add ons for an auto trans, and heated seats, dollar for dollar. Totalled about $24,500 before ttl. Good deal on my trade too. No games at all. Maybe I could have knocked a couple of hundred off if I played all the local dealers against each other, but frankly doing that is just not worth a couple of hundred $ to me anymore. This dealership is closest to me, so I wanted to go with them if the deal was fair and professional, which it was. Anyway, I love the car (except for the stereo, its weak). There are a few quirky things about Saabs, but after 3 days I am already used to them. Engine is strong, especially considering this is the lowest powered model. I'd take this car any day over what else is out there (mainly non premium Japanese cars) in sedans at that price with a leather interior. |

With the automatic, the car was very sluggish off the line and the engine/exhaust sound was very unimpressive, a wheeze rather than a growl. We own an Infiniti FX which maybe has spoiled us, but this car was a total disappointment. GM will be dropping a new V6 in the 9-3 in a few months, but by then the GM discount will be long gone. Don't know what to do, great looking car, great ride, lousy power... Maybe it is just us. Jon. |

My dealer has an ARC on the lot with auto trans, metalic paint and power moonroof. for $26545 with all incentives and discounts. I don't want the moonroof so I'm going to try and negotiate the price down further. For those of you who have already purchased during this promotion, any luck negotiating price down beyond advertised emp discounts and incentives? How about the lease options. Did anyone feel the lease fees were fair or do you get hosed? |
