Leasing a Saab 9-3 Linear in June by jspears

Hi Everyone,

I have some questions about leasing a Saab 9-3 Linear. I have been looking at a couple of dealerships already and at the latest one, this sales person seemed to give me some interesting deal (or is it?).

And here is what this sales guy quoted me:

SAAB Linear 9-3 with a manual transmission and a moonroof in a metallic paint

MSRP: 29295
Sales price: 26665
Rebates: 3500
RV: 39%
MF: 0.0015
Term: 48 mo
No down payment, no upfront money, just the first monthly payment
Monthly payment = $345

Does this seem like a good deal? Compared to the one I got from other sales reps previously, this looks better. What do you experts think? Thanks a bunch for you opinions.

There is a $3,500 rebate and the GM employee price? Is the rebate good for purchases too?

they will definitely have additonal incentives after july 5 as GM tries to reduce inventory on the '05 models. Do you know how much the rebates were last month for purchases? I can get S-plan and am waiting for this promotion to end myself before I buy my 9-3.

It looks good, but four years is a long time to be locked into a lease.. What is the mileage allowance?

To answer 51paul, yes there is a rebate on top of the GM employee discount. But the sale price I mentioned is the GM employee discount for the car I'm interested in. I think there is also a rebate for purchase although I'm not sure how much. Anyone?

kyfdx, the mileage allowance is 12K mi a year. Is a 48-mo lease really too long? I just think that for me it's about right because changing my vehicle every 4 yr seems okay. Thanks for your opinion and welcome some more.

If you are certain that you can complete the terms of the lease, there is nothing inherently wrong with leasing for four years.. With the Saab, you'll be under warranty the entire time, as well.

Getting out of a lease early is very expensive, though.. If you can commit to it, then no problem..

The price looks very good..

I've been working with the dealer for the last two days trying to decide which 9-3 to get. They're quoting me Linear prices with auto trans for 21900 which includes the employee discount and a $4500 rebate if I lease through them. If I choose to purchase, the rebate drops to $2500 + employee discount. They're telling me that I can get a $3500 rebate on an ARC if I lease...a thousand dollar difference. I have not sat down at the table with them yet to determine if the lease rebate + fees they will pile on top of it equal an advantage. I found on edmunds.com that there are lease and/or APR incentives for .9, 1.9 and 2.9%. My dealer has failed to mention this so far. The interest rate they're quoting me for the "special" lease incentives is 6.9% and they have not run my credit yet. All this seems a little fuzzy. Step carefully through the mess...

Negotiating Price Beyond Employee Discount Price by ckingtw

Has anyone had any success negotiating down the price of a 9-3 Linear or ARC beyond the stated employee discount price? There just appears to be more room in the final price to get a better deal. I'm seeing in other boards that GM dealers are getting up to 5% holdback to move cars and still make money. Yet the dealer tells me they're only making $200 on each sale (which I don't believe for a minute). Something interesting also...my particular dealership has more DEMOS on the lot then new cars. He tells me the demos are not priced any different then the new cars because the employee discounts cut so deep into the prices (again I don't believe him). Figure this out...a demo 9-3 with some miles on it (but less then 6k) at the same price as a new one with less then 10 miles on it. Come on! There has to be negotiating room there. Anyone familiar with this?

Current 9-3 Incentives by ckingtw

This is what I've been offered by the dealer. Can anyone tell me if this is good, bad or ugly based on your buying experience? What incentives and discounts are out there to be tacted on? I'm pre-approved at 4.95% for up to 60 months through my credit union as a straight purchase but it appears I can't get the incentives beyond employee discount without leasing. Am I missing something?

93 Linear:
End price before TTL
$21900 w/auto trans - no other upgrades

Included discounts and rebates:
Option 1
1) Employee Discount
2) $4500 lease incentive (48 month 6.9%)

Option 2 - new price $23900
1) Employee discount
2) $2500 incentive (purchase)

93 ARC
End price before TTL
$26300 w/auto trans - no other upgrades

Included Discounts and rebates
Option 1
1) Employee discount
2) $3500 lease inccentive (48 months 6.9%)

In each of the two car scenarios the dealer has slid in preparation and advertising costs equalling $500 total. I say get them out of there. The dealer also has demos on the lot that he says are going for the same price as new...there has to be wiggle room there.
