With the GM pricing getting you a '95 Arc for about 27K (reasonably equipped), what would a 2004 still unsold go for??? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Employee Discount is worthless by adp3

I've talked to a few folks who have said the current employee discount is not as good as the pricing you can get if you negotiate regardless of the discount. It appears you might as well buy GM cars like you normally would.

RE: employee discount, on the SAAB/GM site it gave a price of $22,681 for a base 9-3 linear. Add metallic paint and an auto tranny, and I get about $24,500. Anybody negotiate a 9-3 linear lately and get a price like this, or better?

I bought S40 3 months ago, and at that time I was also considering the Saab 93. I was able to negotiate for the 93 with premium, auto tran, and sunroof for $28 out the door. So with the employee discount promotion the deal is you'll get the best deal without any negotiation. The 93 starting at 22,681 is unbelievable deal, if they had this deal back then I think I'd have bought the 93 instead of S40.

that's great info - how are you liking your S40?

I am driving a Sebring convertible with about 80k miles on it, so I always need to be in the market for a new car. Actually, maybe my sentiment should be

Am considering replacing it with the Saab convertible. Are Saabs any good these days? I haven't paid any attention since GM bought them, since I figured they'd ruin the product. My Sebring is OK, but if the Saab was a good product, maybe now is a good time to pull the trigger on a new one.

Personally I just love Swedish cars, so far I love my S40, the comfort and handling is awesome. We also have a 02 95 and the inspired turbo engine makes it very fun to drive.

I think the one car that makes Saab famous is its convertible, much adorned by educated women. The new 93 convertible is more masculine than its predecessors and I think it's a beauty. I just spotted the new Volvo C50 convertible here on edmund.com and it looks awesome (hard-top four seater convertible, wow that is a world's first)

GM hasn't done much with Saab engine, only beginning to borrow Saab's turbo technology. Volvo is becoming a very successful/distinguished brand and sales are increasing. I think GM can lend hands in the marketing department and leave the engineering & designing to Saab, and hopefully Saab can make the same run that Volvo has.

c50 vs 93 convert. by adp3

I had no doubt that Volvo new convertible would be sweet. But how much more expensive will the C50 be than the current price you can get a 93 for? I'm sure I'd like the C50 more, but....will I like it 10k more?

of course, I picked up my Volvo XC90 at the factory, and I'd LOVE another trip to Sweden to do the same. I told myself that that was the only way I was going to buy a car in the future, but the current GM discounts appear to be too good to ignore.

I wonder if I can combine overseas delivery with the employee discount.......?

Given the starting price of the S40 at 23K, from what I heard the C50 would start about 10K more, which is the same starting price of the current Saab convertible with employee discount ($32,9 wow sure is a too good of a deal to ignore) but I think it's never too late to get one, other creative promotion will come along. The C50 won't be available for at least another 9 months, but a Saab convertible is also very nice.

Leasing a Saab 9-3 Linear in June by jspears

Hi Everyone,

I have some questions about leasing a Saab 9-3 Linear. I have been looking at a couple of dealerships already and at the latest one, this sales person seemed to give me some interesting deal (or is it?).

And here is what this sales guy quoted me:

SAAB Linear 9-3 with a manual transmission and a moonroof in a metallic paint

MSRP: 29295
Sales price: 26665
Rebates: 3500
RV: 39%
MF: 0.0015
Term: 48 mo
No down payment, no upfront money, just the first monthly payment
Monthly payment = $345

Does this seem like a good deal? Compared to the one I got from other sales reps previously, this looks better. What do you experts think? Thanks a bunch for you opinions.
