Delay in production by bigmike5

I toured the plant a few years ago with the 300M club and at that time they had two giant computerized welding machines made by a Japanese company, but I can't recall the name now, which were a big part in the production process. I recall seeing sparks flying everywhere from the welding. Anyway, I heard that as the production for the last generation LH cars came down, they took out one of the big machines. Then when the Sunami of orders for the new platform cars hit, it put them behind because one machine couldn't keep up with the demand. They were in the process of adding a second machine again a few months ago. As I recall from the tour, we were told that each machine cost a few million, but were probably worth it.

On the web I read that on colors too, but that's different than reading it on an order screen. I got lucky ordering that color 07/28. I like the Magnesium also. One would think there would be a larger variety in colors. 300C AWD is probably worth losing one mpg. Too late for me. I asked about it in July and they said no then. 8-12 weeks is tolerable. I've seen "Midnight Blue". It is an awesome color. Depending on the light it seemed even more black than the black one parked next to it. I assume you live where you can get good use of AWD. Of course now that you ordered it, it will never snow again!

Need some good information by ballcoach

I have had a Satin Jade 300c on order since September. I also have an "EC" number that is good until 12/31. My car is still in "BG" status with no set build date. Question #1: Are all existing orders for Satin Jade going to be built, or do I have to change colors? Question #2: Even if my car comes in after the first of the year, will my EC be valid? I had called DCX customer service, and mentiond the car was "sold order confirmed," and was told my EC "...should be good." "Should" is the word that bothers me. Any information is appreciated.

I have the same issue with a 300C that I ordered on 9/3. I have an EC number that was good until the end of the year. I called Chrysler and was told they would honor the EC number until the backlog was caught up. Better honor it, it's one of the main reasons I sold my Lexus. I also asked about the $1000 back if you finance through Chrysler. They said that was up to the dealer?????

Had to change order by ballcoach

Previously, I had posted requesting information related to my order. I had to change color, if I had stayed with Satin Jade, the car never would have been built. Changed to Cool Vanilla, only thing is, now the car is back in "edit" status. I hope the circle isn't starting all over again. For all those who have ordered Satin Jade or Deep Lava, better contact your dealers. Those colors are history as of December.

Delivery of 300C Satin Jade Pearl by jake4

Got my 300C yesterday,5PM. Order went in 7/29. Satin Jade Pearl with all options except pedals and smokers. I hope those who ordered that color get it. When I ordered, they told me 90-120 days. It was 120. I drove it a bit last night in the rain. Amazing how it can accelerate on wet pavement. It's worth the wait! Everything works. No problems. No pull. No complaints. The last thing the dealer did just before I left was give me a coupon for a free tank of gas at the station six blocks away. While I was filling it, a couple people came over raving over the car, asking me how I liked it. I suppose that's just a taste of things to come until there are more on the road. Um, maybe not... I mean, how many 57 Chevys did they have to build before people quit raving about them? Not everyone liked the '57 either, but if one did, sweet, then or now. Ditto.

If you have patience it's worth the wait. I have nothing but really good things to say about the people at the dealership. I know all people and experiences aren't the same. My thought on that is, find someone you feel comfortable working with. If they don't seem straight forward with you, go to a different dealer. There are lots of them around. I've read about how dealers have allocations. I don't know a thing about that but it might be an issue one could find out about before placing an order. I got a VON number within 10 days of placing my order so I'd suggest, get a VON number. Ask for answers. Be positive minded when dealing with people. It goes a long long way!!! It makes it easier for you to say no if you have to, instead of a no, no, no, attitude, which is a drone that, to me means more like yes at any cost. Just the way I see it and how a lot of sales people see it. After you negotiate your price, ask if you can get that price locked in. If they say yes, get it in writing. If they say no, go somewhere else. If they give you a price then they should stick to it. They'll be happy and so will you. More later and good luck. Like I said, it's worth the wait. If I figure out how to post pics I'll do so. More later.

Build Status by viper01

I'm supposedly 7 weeks into my 16 week wait for a 300C. I asked my salesman what he knew about it. He doesn't have a clue. He did look up my VON, but nothing else. Is there something he can check or anything I can do to make sure I'm in the queue and not losing ground? I'm surprised that the dealer knows nothing. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

With 100,000 vehicle back-log, I'm sure it's chaos at the factory. Your number is on a list in the system, but you just have to wait until it comes up. Even after you get you VIN they know nothing for a long time. Your dealer has access to the "Business Center", something the customer service people don't (or so I have been told). My dealer got a print-out every day but it just tells the status, no time frame and usually no reasons until things start happening. See post #183 in this forum for status code meanings.

Thanks, bjs. The chaos is what I'm afraid of. I accepted the 16 weeks originally and I'm OK with that. If I find it's slipping, I'll probably start shopping again. I got a real cool feeling talking to the salesman about the situation.

Factory Order failed by grandy

I ordered my 300c on august 23rd. Fully loaded
with all factory options in Cool Vanilla.
I was quoted 6 weeks by the sales manager at that time.

It has been revised every month since then.
Yesterday November 30th I was told that the factory had misplaced my order and that I would
have to start all over again.

  Not a chance!
I will not be buying a 300c from dc.
