a follow up. It seems as if Chrysler does not want to make this car. After 8 weeks i FINALLY got a straight answer from customer service. My 300 base is on hold. No reason-- just it is on hold. It appears all production for August is scheduled and my order is not there. They have some codes for order status and none make sense and the Chysler people or dealers cant or will not tell you what is really going on. I have run inventories arcross the counrty for base models and it appears your location determines if there are any in stock. Much of the midwest and spots in the NE have cars. FYI -- THERE ARE "C"'s EVERYWHERE AND LIMITEDS TOO. There is a decent supply of touring models and darn few bases except in pockets. My base was ordered with only one option - power adj pedal and in Silver Steel. Deliveries of base models are going on right now in a lot of areas. I have become discouraged enough that I will probably cancel my order and buy the M35 and take another look at the Maxium before I buy. I have a heartversion in the morning but by Wed I will make up my mind. This will be my last effort with chrysler. It is a risky buy considering Chrysler's history will resell values. Honda lost me when they refused to fix a recalled Accord in 1977 and the Toyota people jut have a way of making me mad when I walk inthe showroom. The internet may have helped but I just dont want to do business with them. Wish they still made a Roadmaster - an ugly outside - princess inside with some GO when you step on the gas - my favorite car since my 1962 Chrysler 300 with a 413 hemi.

We ordered a 2006 300C RWD, Jade Mist, loaded except for the sunroof, DVD, and the adj. pedals in late june 2 days before going on vacation. We wanted to get the car by October and were concerned about delivery time. When we got home four weeks later, I called to see if thay had any idea of delivery date. Boy, was I shocked when they said it was delivered the previous day. I was totally unprepared but tood delivery that afternoon. So far, no issues. The only issue has been that the manual delivered for the REC Nav system was not for that model and many of the instructions do not apply. We have not been able to get the correct user manual to date.

Back on July 6th the factory told me the estimated ship date for my 2006 300 Limited was July 21st. I ordered the car on May 31st. The factory actually shipped the car on July 22nd. It arrived by train at the Mira Loma, CA distribution center on July 28th. My dealership is in Redlands, CA... about 20 miles from the distribution center.
Get this...my car has not yet been unloaded from the rail car inside the distribution center. Reason given by Union Pacific is that the rail car (plus 20 other rail cars loaded with new Chryslers) has a damaged wheel and cannot be moved to the unloading area until the wheel is repaired. It is amazing that these rail cars could roll all the way across the country, but cannot roll an additional 100 yards inside the distribution center to the unloading area! My dealer tells me that Chrysler has no influence over Union Pacific. I just have to wait till the rail car is repaired.
I sure hope none of you have a similar experience.

I have in-laws in Mira Loma about 2 miles from that distribution center... HUGE place, surrounded by high walls and razor wire, etc. Lots of trains in and out of there daily.
I'm sure they'd be glad to go over to the center and offer to drive your car over to Redlands! HA. Dad-in-law worked at a Salvation Army office in Redlands many years ago. Patience in always harder when you know it's so close!

I am getting ready to order my car. Can someone please tell me how I can track the car from the factory to the dealer?

Once your car has been made, your salesman will be able to get you an itinerary. Be patient after you get this. You are relying on the railroad, the rail yard where the train cars get parked prior to off loading, the over the road transport to the dealer, etc. With a little luck it will arrive on time otherwise "patience is a virtue".

With the information (itinarary)I get from the salesman, is there some place I can go on the Internet to follow the progress of the car? If so can you give me the web page?
regards

If you are refering to a UPS or FEDEX type tracking system, I don't think there is anything. Perhaps someone else out there can furnish you with more info or again ask your salesman. He may know of something out there.
