HELP 2008 Prius Ipod connection by dilbertic

I have a brand new 2008 Prius with Package #5 w Nav...

I want to get the kit so that the head unit controls the iPod. I don't want the Dice unit!!

My question is I was told I only need a cable that connects to the Head unit rear AUX port to the glove box which has the iPod connector?

I have called 4 dealers, which all seem clueless, I even called Toyota corp and asked what do I need to connect an iPod to the Head unit. They responded with the port on the front of the radio? What port? I know about the mini din jack in the center console, but that won't charge or control the iPod from the head unit.

So does anyone have any information? I search the net and they say Toyota has a kit for the new 2008 cars, yet no one knows anything about it.

Thanks for any help

?? PRIUS INTERNET PARTS SOURCE ?? by florida_wen

We will be taking delivery of our new 2007 Prius Touring (package 5) in a couple of days. I want to purchase some “optional accessories” such as rubber floor mats, cargo net, bumper protector, oil filter, oil filter wrench, etc. Obviously the dealer charges quite high prices and I have always had great luck with our Honda / Acura products buying items on the internet. Since this is our first Toyota I need some good pricing, trustworthy, and sort of close to Florida internet dealers that sell GENUINE TOYOTA parts. So far I have found two:

www.toyotapartsstore.com

www.trdparts4u.com

Any others?? Any better selections ?? Thanks………

I got some rubber floor mats today from Costco - they are not custom, but will work great for the wet winter ahead. 4 mats, $18!! and they are pretty decent quality - the rubber is nice. I cut my drivers side mat a little, maybe 1" on each side, near the front, to fit better.

I will also be looking for other things, l like you guys.

Neo Ion makes an iPod connection kit that's worked great on my last two Honda Pilots. I just traded my 2005 Pilot in and got a 2008 Prius (Package 6) but on the Neo Ion site, it says that the 2008 version is NOT available yet.

I did find this site which says it IS available:
http://www.icarkits.com/product_info.php?products_id=3337

I'm contacting both companies to see which is correct.

Okay, I know it is a little late - but here is a link for the reverse bulb with built in alarm that will fit the Prius (type 7740):

Aftermarket Additions to Prius by catringos

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to add stability control to a Prius aftermarket? If it is possible, I'd appreciate any advice on how to do so.

I am also considering adding a sunroof and cruise control aftermarket. Is there any reason why anyone would recommend not adding these options aftermarket? Does anyone know if these additions would affect the warranty?

Thank you,

Bob

You cannot add stability control in the aftermarket. I wouldn't let anyone cut a hole in my roof either (other than the factory), although I suppose someone could do it (might be a little problematic with the Prius' "double bubble" roof). Cruise control should be doable. I would think the warranty would be unaffected unless the aftermarket installation causes a factory-installed item to go bad.

My nephew Bruce, added leather seats and a sunroof to his Prius in CA, 2-3 years ago.
He would be glad to answer any questions.

This may be a little late but i highly recommend the one made by VAISTECH. I have the SLI unit in my 2007 Lexus ES350. They make them for Lexus and Toyota. They are a great company and it's a great product.
