John, so what can I do in my situation with a 2005 Prius? Will it be able to sit ouside in the cold (NYC, but still...) for, say, 2 weeks w/o draining the battery?

We had leather installed. The car looks like a million bucks. We love this thing, and it eclipses the Discovery we were going to buy six months ago.

However my wife likes to change the Navigation to French. She says I need to be even more open-minded.

She now knows that when I'm driving, droite means immediate u-turn if you don't cut it out.

We were backing up just outside a florist shop and the parrot, caged just outside, started mimicking us.

(I guess there have been a forklift or two around the place.)

Steering Stiffness by danashields

Has anybody experienced some fatigue driving on the highway for several hours? The steering wheel seems overly stiff (for no apparent reason). It's definitely not a one-handed drive.

By changing my gas from 87 to 89 octane, the transition is much smoother. At 92 octane, you can't even sense the transition

I think it diesels just like any other small motor. My best results--without wasting a ton of loot--was to stick with 89 even though the manual suggests that you can do otherwise.

Trailer for Luggage by danashields

I'm interested in using a very small trailer very occasionally. Mostly to store luggage (at Christmas, ya know).

Anyway, I've seen a lot of discussion on other boards dissuading users from using a trailer; however, I'm not really sure how a very small trailer would be all that different than half the people I've given rides to in my back seat (no offense to them).

Does somebody make a "micro trailer" that can be used for extraordinarily small loads?

It seems that I have read that any wiring into the Prius system may void the warranty. I would only trust Toyota dealers to add that hookup.

Are you suggesting that the Toyota dealership would do so without voiding it? Maybe I'll give them a call.

Nice idea. Thanks (because that warrantee is like gold).

It's known as a fast steering ratio......you do not have to "wind it up" to get around
a corner. Foreign vehicles have had this feature for many years, fortunately,
but the driver has to be attentive -- that is to say two hands on the wheel.......
this is not a Buick! Driving in other countries is probably more serious business.

Hi. I just visited the United Kingdom on "holiday" (vacation) and since I have had a Prius on order since September, 2004 (and it is supposed to be here finally, within 2 weeks) I managed to snag a copy of a British Toyota Prius brochure. It is way larger and more comprehensive than the US brochure, and it also has a section pertaining to accessories. One of the accessories which caught my eye was the roof rack, factory sanctioned and approved by Toyota UK. I do not know if you could got on the web (www.toyota.co.uk) and see if they would be willing to ship one to the US, or even whether this would void the Toyota US warrantee..... In addition to the roof rack, they had kayak carriers, bike carriers, etc. to be added to the roof rack. It was not a "generic" roof rack, it fit the car. The other thing which interested me was the matte black accessory door trims (to keep neandetols in parking lots from making hash out of the side of the Prius once I get it). I may try to get those via my sister-in-law in Scotland....
