Does Tire Weight Matter? 23 vs. 29 pound minivan tires.... by micweb
Nov 23, 2005 (11:08 am)
I just got a 2006 Dodge Caravan minivan with the 215x70/15 inch tires (Goodyear Integrity). In browsing the Tire Rack website I was surprised how much tires vary in weight. My stock tires are 23 pounds, as are Goodyear LS and GA tires, but top-rated Turanza LS-T tires are 29 pounds as are the Triple Treads (which are highly rated in the recent Consumer Reports review of passenger car tires).

So, given the fact that my minivan is a rare 4 cylinder, will performance (already "leisurely") be adversely impacted if I upgrade to a tire that also happens to be 6 pounds heavier per wheel? That's a lot of extra weight to have to "spin" up to speed, isn't it?

tire help by simone

Conner,
Have 2004 malibu Lt,with close to 50,000 miles on the oem set, and have been looking at your site, and am interested in a set of Kumho tires, your site show's kumho touring as/795 available for me but when i cross checked on the Kumho site, these tires where not shown in the 215/60/16 size that i need???
Can you verify if these tires are available???
I am looking for a quiet riding tire, I avg about 28000 miles per year so mileage rating is also important...
Also maybe you can reccomend some tires that would fit the bill other Kumho, or another series of Kumho other than what I have mentioned...thanks for your reply...Simone

Could I use 206/60/16 instead ?
It will be slightly larger overall diameter , less than 0.5" difference.
