Help by huskers
Nov 03, 2005 (6:42 pm)
Conner,
Sorry to bother you with a question, but I need the opinion of someone who actually knows what they are talking about. I have a 2000 Gmc 2500 4wd x-cab it come stock with 245/75/16's.
They are now worn out and need a new set. I'm looking at Dunlop radial rover r/t from tire rack. If I want to go up in size what can I get under the truck on the stock wheels to increase height? I've seen all sorts of things 255/85/16 265/75/16 ???? I'm very confused. i have a 36ft trailer I also haul and four kids that I want to be safe with my decision. I do alot of hunting and need better tires to get me to and from. Like I said I'm sorry to bother you But I'm stuck.
Thank You for your time,

We can only post reviews that we have. If people do not reply to our tire survey request then we will not have anything to post.

Between the two you have listed i would actually say the Avon Tech M550 A/S is a little better. They are definitely quieter and will also offer a little better snow traction.

Re: Directional or asymmetric tires? [frootloops16] by connortirerack

It really comes down to a give and take scenario. A directional tread design will offer better wet traction. An asymmetrical tire will give better dry traction and dry handling.

Please keep in mind that the above information is speculative and the final comparative outcome is dependant on the specific tires that you are trying to compare.

Well, I was looking at BFGoodrich's Traction T/A T and Goodyear's Assurance TripleTred in a 185/70-14.
Several local tire people I've talked to said not to go with a directional tire because it just won't wear as well as a asymmetric plus your not going to have as good of a ride with a directional.

I find it hard to believe what they are saying... but then again they are "Professionals".

Tires for 04 EX V6 Honda Accord Sedan by ken972
Nov 04, 2005 (2:50 pm)
HI Connor, looking for tires to replace the oem 205/60R 16's MXV4 S8's. The best seem to be the Bridgestone Turanza LS H or V. V's came on the car but Im not sure they are needed. Would the LSH and LSV provide the same type of ride? Or is there a difference apart from the speed rating? Im looking for more traction and maybe a more comfortable ride..but I do enjoy the cornering that the V's may provide. I wonder if the Bridgestone V's happen to give a more comfy ride then the michelin V's? Thanks for your time, Im a long time Tire Rack guy. Ken

Also..would it be ok to put 225/55R/16's on the car to improve overall performance?

Tires for 01 LX Honda Accord Sedan & 00 CE Toyota Corolla by arvinm

Hi Connor, we currently have 49-50K miles on both of these cars.

Please make your best recommendations for replacement tires in each case (I have seen Bridgestone Potenza RE950, Yokohama AVID H4S and BFGoodrich Traction T/A H as the best sellers for Accord on your site).

We may also considering trading in these cars over the next 2-3 years.

Replacement tires for 1994 Mazda Miata by uv4me
Nov 07, 2005 (6:25 am)
Conner,
I just purchased a 1994 Miata and would like a little help choosing the right tires. This will be strictly a weekend "fun" car that I plan to only drive in dry weather. I also plan to keep it stock without any performance mods to engine. So the million dollar question....what tire will give me the best balance of performance/cost/durability? Thanks in advance.

winter tires for 2wd 2000 Chevy Suburban in NYC area by bc13
Nov 07, 2005 (7:43 am)
Hi Connor. Looking for some recommendations on a winter tire. Went thru last winter with cross terrains (265-70-16), and am looking for something with better traction for winter snows without sacrificing too much for wet/dry pavement driving. I think recommended tire size is 245-75-16. Don't think the michelin x-ice come in that particular size. Other suggestions thru reading have been Nokia's, Goodrich winter Slalom, bridgestone Blizzak, and viking snow tires (don't think they are truck tires). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
