Re: Winter Tires in the Yukon [igbins] by connortirerack

Due to the fact that i do not sell Nokian tires i can not give an honest comparison between them. However, since the Tire rack is the only tire supplier that does any independent and unbiased testing i don't know how it is that the salesman could give you and honest comparison other than what the manufacturers brochures say?

The BMW center cap will not fit the Sport Edition F6. Most manufacturer design the center caps so that you can only use there center caps. I have no idea who may have a roundel center cap to fit this wheel.

Out of the tires that you listed i would say the BF Goodrich Traction T/A would be the best tire for the needs you stated. I have them currently in stock for 51.00 each.

Question for Connor - Avon Tech M550 by msu79gt82
Nov 03, 2005 (9:31 am)
You noted back on Feb 15, 2005 that this was a fairly new tire. Now that its more than 8 months later what is your take?

I'm looking to replace the horrible oem Goodyear RS-A on my '06 Infiniti M35 (245/45 18) with either the Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S of the Avon Tech M550. I must confess a somewhat more comfortable feeling with the Pirelli name; however that is an unfairly biased thought due to name recognition only. The Avon's are higher rated and a better price. Thanks for your input.

BTW: your website has an error on the rating comparison chart (the P Zeros are on there twice).

This isn't something that can necessarily be easily explained. There are allot of factors that can alter the given answer. and to be completely honest it would take altogether way to long to answer in an email.

If you would like to give me a call i would be more than happy to try and help you find the tires to suit your needs.

First of all i would recommend using a matching set of tires. I hear from people all the time that are mixing tires and they complain about vibration problems, tire tracking problems, noise problems.

I would recommend using a touring style of tire to meet the needs that you listed in your post. The tire i would recommend would be the P205/60R15 Bridgestone Turanza LS-T which are currently priced at 76.00 each plus shipping.

No, GM (and all other manufacturers) require 3/4 and 1 ton vehicles to have a minimum of an E load range tire. Due to liability issues we will not make recommendations or sell a lower load rating for this type of trucks.

I would recommend the 225/50/17 Yokohama Avid V4S. They are currently priced at 103.00 and they offer good dry and wet traction, and decent snow traction if you need it.

If both sizes are within the vehicle manufacturers recommended fitment range then you would use the vehicle recommended air pressure that is found on the drivers side door. If for what ever reason you are using tire sizes that you think are correct then it is possible that you may need to increase (never decrease) your air pressure to meet the vehicles needed load carrying capacity. However the addition air pressure is determined by a combination of the vehicles specifications, the tires max air inflation pressure, and the tires max load carrying capability.
