Ask Connor is set up in Q&A format for Connor to respond to fitment questions.

If you have comments about your own tire setup or want to get into other general tire issues, please head over to Tires, tires, tires. That way Connor won't have to plow through off-topic posts trying to help folks with the limited time he has to participate (especially this time of year).

Thanks!

WOW, that's allot of numbers. I read this about 6 times to make sure i understood what you were asking.

Because the vehicle is equipped with ABS and i believe traction control i would not recommend mixing tire sizes. When the vehicle computer picks up the front axle spinning at a different speed than the rear it will try and engage the Dynamic Stability Controls to get the wheels spinning the same speed. Since there are different size the and will never spin at the same speeds the DSC will be working all the time and would eventually fail. The vehicle would need to have four matching tires on it at all times.

Due to the fact this is a sport utility vehicle with a high center of gravity there are limited options for making it handle better. I have spring that would stiffen up the handling however they would also lower the vehicle and stiffen the ride quality. Personally i would not recommend doing that. If you could find a manufacturer that produces heavier sway bars for the vehicle i would recommend using them. They would help lessen the amount of body sway for better handling without stiffening up the ride. Regrettably i do not have any for this vehicle. The only size i can recommend in 16" would be the stock size. You can use a 17 or 18" wheels and tire fitment. This would help with acceleration, braking, and handling but it would take a larger up front investment. If i read you post correctly it didn't sound like you were looking to put the investment into the vehicle at this time.

I would recommend switching the tires and getting a matching set for the vehicle. From what you described, it sounds like the tire may have impact damage that has caused a blister in the tread ply.

I would recommend using the P215/70R15 Bridgestone Turanza LS-T which are currently priced at 83.00 each.

AWD Saturn VUE tires by carguy1234
Nov 02, 2005 (4:08 pm)
I posted over on tires, tires, tires, and the Saturn VUE forums but never got any responses, so I'll try here to see if I can get a response:

It's time to change tires on our Saturn VUE, and I'm seeing that the choices are limited with the stock P235/65R16 101S M&S type.

So I'm wondering if I can go with P215/70R16's? There are a lot more and better choices in that size, especially for winter traction.

Can I switch to the 215/70 tires on our 2003 AWD VUE?

Thanks.

Due to the fact that i do not sell Nokian tires i can not give an honest comparison between them. However, since the Tire rack is the only tire supplier that does any independent and unbiased testing i don't know how it is that the salesman could give you and honest comparison other than what the manufacturers brochures say?

The BMW center cap will not fit the Sport Edition F6. Most manufacturer design the center caps so that you can only use there center caps. I have no idea who may have a roundel center cap to fit this wheel.

Out of the tires that you listed i would say the BF Goodrich Traction T/A would be the best tire for the needs you stated. I have them currently in stock for 51.00 each.

Question for Connor - Avon Tech M550 by msu79gt82
Nov 03, 2005 (8:31 am)
You noted back on Feb 15, 2005 that this was a fairly new tire. Now that its more than 8 months later what is your take?

I'm looking to replace the horrible oem Goodyear RS-A on my '06 Infiniti M35 (245/45 18) with either the Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S of the Avon Tech M550. I must confess a somewhat more comfortable feeling with the Pirelli name; however that is an unfairly biased thought due to name recognition only. The Avon's are higher rated and a better price. Thanks for your input.

BTW: your website has an error on the rating comparison chart (the P Zeros are on there twice).

This isn't something that can necessarily be easily explained. There are allot of factors that can alter the given answer. and to be completely honest it would take altogether way to long to answer in an email.

If you would like to give me a call i would be more than happy to try and help you find the tires to suit your needs.
