Oh brother. Many of the vehicles new in the 20 mpg segment are deeply discounted. Hit 10-20 dealers with bid requests last week of the month via email and you may work 5000-6000+ off MSRP for a new 07 equipped as the 05 you're looking at. As fpr the 05, look it up used on kbb.com and nada.com and target below to just above wholesale. See what the landscape is for the new ones and of course you want the 05 for lots less than your best 07 deal.
Back in March, I posted about a NEW 2005 Pathfinder LE at my local Nissan dealership. I negotiated on it, but walked away at a final offer of $29,635. Turns out the dealer STILL has the vehicle. With the 2008 models out, is it crazy to even consider purchasing this vehicle? I'm tempted to offer them $25,000 but am I taking a huge risk on buying a car that has sat on the lot for over 2 years?
Here's where we're at:
less Nissan rebate -$1,500
Dealer holdback -$935.00
When I left the dealer, I had them down to $29,635. The dealer definitely wants to get rid of this vehicle, so I know I can do better.
Here are more specs:
2005 Pathfinder LE
Heated leather seats
Bose 6 disc CD changer
(doesn't have navigation system)

I must agree with the previous post! Your 05' Pathy, given it's a LE model is nothing extreme or even worth that much effort to negotiate with a dealer who doesn't want to work with you. I don't care how much you want to spin it brother, it's USED OLD vehicle, 2005 is so old now! Look at the 2007 or 2008 model right now. If you spend all that time and effort to deal with this 2005, why not work on a newer model!
Personally, my 06'SE has ALL of the items you listed here. Brandnew with 9 miles on it when I bought. OTD was $32100, Ardmore Nissan, PA!
And I didn't set foot in the dealer until the delivery day! All was done via email and web, and intensive phone calls. The beauty of this method and why it works for me is: I control the negotiation's temperature If it gets too hot and gets a little bit out of control or I don't like what I hear, just excuse myself and hang up the phone or delaying the email respond time.
BTW, You should stop calling it a "NEW 2005 Pathfiner", it's 3 years old now brother... Look at the 2008 and see what you are missing here!

My dealer has a beautiful blue LE, loaded up. Nav, DVD, all leather, they are asking
nearly 30K for it. I had my 03 in for service this morning, but didn't btoher any
of the salesmen. It was awfully nice!

Personally, Nissan needs to step up a notch with their NAV system. This is 2007 going on 2008 and they still can't get the Touch-Screen into their vehicle yet? So, I wouldn't spend the extra cash to get the factory (low-end) Navigation system that is NOT a touch-screen. You'd better off to buy a loaded SE and upgrade the head-unit with high-end Nav (after-market, like Pioneer or Eclipse)

#331 of 679 Did I get a good deal?
Jul 03, 2007 (10:43 am)
I just leased an 07 Pathfinder LE with Navi (sticker price around 39K) with the following deal:
$1000 total at signing
$418 per month (includes tax of 7% in my county)
12K miles per year
I got mine at Team Nissan in Marietta, GA. Did I get a good deal?

I need advice. I'm interested in purchasing 2007 Pathfinder SE and visited a dealer and received the following price and options:
$29,200 plus taxes(8.125 - NY) and license fee,
Body Side Molding
The color is Red Brawn and interior is desert cloth. I actually wanted leather interior but it seems they are hard to come by.
Is this good price or can I do better. He did have three on his lot. I appreciate your input.
#333 of 679 Issue with Tires
Jul 12, 2007 (7:37 am)
So we purchased an 07 Pathfinder last week that was on a different lot so it needed to be delivered. We also had them replace the XM radio with Sirius. Since it took them a couple of days to get the Sirius in stock and installed my wife picked up the car on Friday night and did the look over. When she brought it home I saw that the tires had the white outline writing facing out, something that I don't really like. When I called our salesman he implied that we would have to pay to have the tires flipped so that black wall side of the tires faced out. What are your all thoughts on this? I assumed that they would handle this without a charge,

The Dealer def. got you good!
1. Factory defaults all tires/wheels to be "whitewall"
2. Should have done that "walk-around" before delivery (your false)
3. Dealer does not obligate to do it for FREE, they owe you nothing.
4. Cost money anywhere to get that type of work done on tires/wheels.
5. Pay them and cut your loss! IMHO

We did do the walk-around. Unfortunately I could not be there so my wife did it. I told her things to look for but never thought of the white wall issue.
