My Jim Barkley Story by cbh2007

I have been reading this forum for some time and decided to buy a Tundra. One of the most useful pieces of advice I received was to shop at Jim Barkley. I returned to the US from a five-year international assignment at the end of September. In early August, I called Jim Barkley and told them I wanted to buy a DC Limited listed on their website when I returned. I offered to wire a deposit. JBT told me that they would put my name on the truck and that no deposit was necessary. They also told me that they would have a bed liner installed. I flew into Knoxville and drove to JBT the next day, half expecting that the truck might not be there.
I walked into the office, told them my name, and within 5 minutes JBT pulled the truck out front, complete with the bedliner installed. 15 minutes later, I had signed 3 pieces of paper and drove away with a full tank of gas.
I have purchased many vehicles over the years, but the JBT experience was the best by a longshot. And the trust they demonstrated to a total stranger on the telephone was something I will not forget.
I don't post to forums very often. But I had to do it in this case.

I am looking a 07 tundra sr5 double cab. The truck has some options totaling 34,349.00. I am looking to lease 36 months w/18k miles a year. price per month is 480.00, dealer told me he is taking 3,000 of the sticker of the truck. this is with tier 1 credit. does this seem too high for a 07 lease?? Thanks for any help this price was quoted with octobers incentives "applied" per dealer

I've read that Toyota will be lowering the MSRP for the 2008 Tundra by $1500 or so to remain competitive with the competition. Toyota will be removing a few standard features to bring the cost down in line. FYI

I just purchased a 2007 Tundra Crewmax Limited at Jim Barkley's Toyota in Asheville. My wife and I flew to Asheville from Orlando and drove the Tundra back to Fl. I can honestly say that in all my years of buying new vehicles (I am 62) I have never been so happy with the price and professionalism that I received at that dealership! I tried to buy locally (14 dealerships in Florida area) and NO ONE would "deal" on a Toyota, and EVERYONE was your "TYPICAL" car salesman. I am going to buy either a Camry or a Prius in the next two years and I will DEFINETLY deal with Jim Barkley's Toyota dealership. My salesman was super!!!
PS The truck drives like my Lexus.

I can attest to the Orlando experience, they are a pain here. Though I did have a good experience with Philips Toyota in Leesburg when I bought my 2006 Tundra.

I'm glad I am not the only one that has had a bad experiance with Orlando. I gave Phillips a list of options and a price I was willing to pay (had Consumer Reports New Car Kit with dealer prices to go by) Offered $39,000 for the Limited Crewmax. They said no way. Meanwhile, I bought the same truck with the sunroof and TRD (which I didn't want either one!) with every option I wanted for $36,800!!!
Worth the 600 mile drive back. Figured I saved $4000 as the MSRP was over $44,000.

Frontier Toyota Scion located in Santa Clarita, Ca. north of Los Angeles. Bought a 2008 Tundra SR5 with the TRD Package, bedliner and carpeted floor mats for $28,800. They paid me to take the Tundra home! Sticker was 34,240, invoice was 30,126, they had alot of test driver, but no buyers so far that day. We got lucky today. Love the Tundra!! Ask for Ralph, he's the most informative salesman on trucks at Frontier!!

Try Champion. Much easier to deal with and free oil changes for life which is nice for the 5.7.
