"I purchased a 300C Touring last weekend-pale linen gold-two tone leather-sunroof-upgraded stereo. I asked specifically about the gas grade required and was told regular unleaded is fine."

That is a nice car and you did very well. However, not to be nit picky (okay this is nit picky ): There is no car that is a "300C Touring". There is a 300 Touring and a 300C (the latter has a 5.7 liter Hemi, the former a V6). There is a 300CSRT with a 6.2 liter Hemi.

Read your owner's manual! Octane requirements are clearly listed and there is even some warnings about using other than recommended octane fuels (misfueling. One service writer at the dealership told me that they have to reset the "check engine" lights on some cars that come in becaue they are tuned for only regular unleaded, and the owners think they are going to get more power with premium fuel. Instead, the engine has trouble burning the fuel at the air/fuel mixture settings for lower octane fuel. It needs more air to burn higher octane fuel. You can actually end up getting worse mileage!

Your right about if your car uses regular,it not a good idea to put in premium.I do recommend going up one grade. If your car calls for mid-grade,I wouldn't go down one grade to save less then 2 bucks.Don't go below what it calls for,you will have less performance, more carbon buildup
lower MPGs.I run premium in my 06 Charger SXT,3.5,and just got 20.4 in city with no A/C.My wife's Mazda Tribute 3.0V6
just got just over 20 mpg with A/C.Its rated 19 city.I worked on cars that were suppose to have premium, but regular was used. There was tons of carbon buildup.

Guys can you tell me how much over invoice should I spend on a 300C? I heard the Chrysler sold to Cerberus news really shake buyers confidence...
How about its maintenance costs?

Btw I've been told buying a brand new one isnt worth it since it loses almost $10k the 1st year, is it true?

If it is, then how much should I look forward to spend on an 06 or 07 300C?

I spotted a silver on beige 06 300c, 19k miles, almost fully loaded w/ protection group, sound group, wood trim, sunroof and xenon.

This is my 1st time for a Chrysler, so any infos are very appreciated.

If you're buying a car worried about depreciation, then don't bother buying a car. They are drop as soon as you taken them off the lot. Buy the car because it appeals to you... is fun and comfortable to drive... NOT as any kind of investment.

As far as I'm concerned for a 300C (or even and SRT8) you shouldn't pay anything over invoice. It should be invoice or under, somtimes well under, depending on incentives. But, depending on the size of the dealer and your local market you "may" get the story of $500 over invoice. That's the typical story given by my local dealers in our small market town.

If you can get that '06 300C with 19k miles for around $24k I'd consider that a very good deal. Dealer auction price is more like $22-23k. More likely the lot is asking something like $27k or more and they will never get that.

Kelly Blue Book for that car retail is 31660.There's not much depreciation on this car.Like I stated on the 300c forum,The Chrysler 300 then the Charger had the least depreciation,in its class.

Full size.I read it in a dealers magazine. The Charger showed a 1800 value over the Impala.I don't know what the 300 was compared to,but the LX cars hold their value.

It must be just full-size domestics ... or something specific like that. We certainly know its not beating Lexus in that regard. Of course, Lexus is also supposed to be a step up in class, so ... I dunno. Full-size, mid-priced class? Not a whole lot of competition there, I don't think. Grand Marquis, Impala, Ford 500 (and the rebadged brethren of all the above, of course).

but the LX cars hold their value

As long as the Magnum isn't included. I'm pretty sure the 300 trumps the Charger, too. It seems to be vastly more popular, anyway.

I don't think the Magnum was include. When it first came out it was popular, but that seems like its gone away.I will say My Charger is the best Chrysler product they ever made, and I don't think that the Chrysler products get a fair shake.I been driving Mopars for over 37 years and never cared about what the critics said.Chrysler is the Rodney Dangerfield of the car industry.I worked on cars and trucks for 25 years, and worked on the big three, and became a Mopar man after I saw who had the better cars.Thats my opinion.I specialized on police cars, and the Mopars was superior over the Chevy and Fords.
