AWA (After Warranty Assistance - aka an extension on our 3 year warranty) has currently been made available to cover repairs to the rear panel rusting (ie. wheel wells, bumper seams, quarter panels). There should be no issue at all with you getting this damage repaired for free...

From a CANWEST article today: "Carmakers yesterday reported their worst April Canadian sales in 10 years as the the industry's pain continued. Automakers sold 143,931 vehicles nationwide in April, a 17.8 per cent decline over the same month last year, according to data from DesRosiers Automotive Consultants. The industry is tracking for sales of 1.35 million vehicles by year-end, a major drop from the 1.65-million range sold over the past few years. ... Spring marks the beginning of what is normally the busiest time of the year for sales of new cars and trucks ... Several automakers outperformed the market, including Ford, Mazda and Hyundai." Replying to: autonomous (May 05, 2009 12:59 pm) Mazda has some nice sensible models (esp the 3, 5, & 6) for the everyday Joe, and their pricing would be more budget-friendly in today's economy, although the prices for the 2009 3 & 5, when optioned-up, are creeping close to the $30K CDN mark!   As an aside, I recently had the 5 on a rental for a few days. That's a really nice all-purpose family vehicle. If only it had a few more horses, and AWD, it would probably sell like hotcakes in Canada.   And I'm not at all surprised Hyundai is doing well. It is a source of wonder to me to see how far the range of prices on a car, like the Mazda3, can get. One can see an ad for a Mazda3 sedan listed at C$14,995 but when it comes to actually getting the vehicle, that figure could easily double. Now there are all sorts of taxes and fees that get into the picture, but it can be a bit of a shock. The other shock, of course, is what happens when the vehicle sits around a little while and depreciation kicks in. The average car loses over 60% of its value in 48 months; much of that depreciation happens within the first year.   Jeremy Cato wrote an excellent article on "Vehicle Pricing" in the May 7, 2009 issue of the Globe and Mail.
