I've had two Avalons (03 and 06) and I would run away screaming from the 2013. It is a styling debacle if I've ever seen one.

I think they also made it smaller, what's the point? Its not like it didn't already have a small overlap with the V6 Camry XLE and a lower optioned ES350.

Oh well, I'll look elsewhere when the Buick's lease is up.

Maybe I'd consider a used Avalon as a replacement for my Mercury Grand Marquis. My wife and I saw a 2012 at the Philly Auto Show this past February and thought it was nice.

You would like the Avalon (05-12). It has a very soft ride, lots of smooth quiet power, is comfortable and will pull 29-30mpg at 70-75MPH. Mine was very reliable as well.

It does a lot of what the Panther platform vehicles do well and actually has a bit more rear leg room (but less trunk space)

They are usually pretty pricey used and I'd bet you could get a late model Town Car for the same price or cheaper.

Panthers of any sort are getting scarce around here. The livery drivers are snatching them all up. I would consider a late model Town Car. Latter day Grand Marquises seem very decontented and I don't like how the stylists shrank the headlamps. The front end looks awkward compared to my 2005 model.

YIKES! I hadn't seen it. Kinda like a Camry and the 2013 Fusion had love child...

Yes they stripped away the air ride, power pedals, power pass seat, power lumbar, and you'll never find one with heated seats.

The market just became flooded with a bunch of 2011 Crown Vic LXs (equipped just like the last MGMs). Many of them are available in the 16-17K range with under 20K miles. That is a lot of car for money.

They had to have come from a rental company, because as far as I know the last Vics were not sold to the public.

I still don't know how that got approved.

Good! Don't have to worry about getting one as a future rental. Although Hertz will probably keep them around until 50K++ miles.

Speaking of rentals, that's where the last batch of old/clean style Avalons have headed. Maybe a good used buy in another several months.

That new one is just a mess, different for the sake of being different, lame desperate attempt to add personality to a car. Does the lower grille have any function at all?

When I was renting a lot of cars, I used National. I don't think I ever got into a car with more than 10K miles. Many were practically brand new.

Wow, that sucks for anyone who bought a 2011/12. You are right that will make the values drop a bit.

I don't think it was "love."

That's awful.

What does the rear look like? The current toyota rear lights are better than the jukebox previous version, but still look odd to my eye. Sort of like the new VW Beetle mess.
