We visited my wife's cousin a couple of weeks ago and she had just gotten one. I didn't look that closely at the car, but she likes it. She didn't want all of the stuff that came in the model that had leather, so the dealer added leather seats separately. Hadn't heard of doing that before.

OEM stuff probably isn't genuine leather, is it? Probably some premium vinyl.

I think aftermarket leather used to be a bit more common before people got worried about side airbags and sensors built into the passenger seats.
Or maybe after they price something like Katskins, they figure it's not much more money just to get the option package with the other stuff.

Well, I could have misunderstood her or she may have been mistaken. In any case she couldn't get the Prius she wanted with leather seats and so got aftermarket ones. In any case, as much as I like leather seats it seems a little offbeat to me.

Nope, it's 'premium leather-trimmed interior upgrade'. As with my ES300, I imagine it's just the seating surface, not the sides of the seats.

Hmm, Toyota.com calls it SofTex:
SofTex-trimmed heated front seats with seatback pockets; 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar support; 4-way adjustable front passenger seat
That's for the current Prius Five.

This AM.
Perfect convertible day here in DC, a little cool, not humid for once. Everyone had the top down.

I think the SofTex may be the standard stuff, the quote I had for the leather was for the leather option on the Prius V. So it could have either.

"Tex"....hmm...I think I have seen that name used for pleather before
Saw a new style Escape today, sitting at the dealer...already in the National fleet from what I have read. And surprise of surprises, that Scion Breeze is still sitting at that used car lot.
