Forgot to post when this happend, but last week when I was at a Nissan dealer, they had one on the floor. While waiting on my salesperson, I checked it out pretty thoroughly, sat in it, etc. I thought everything about it was impressive... except they forgot one VERY important detail. A telescoping steering wheel. Call me crazy, but I think that's unacceptable in a car with that pricetag, especially since it means I can't drive one comfortably!

They're called I think "satellite kids" Parents send them gobs of money from overseas, and they spend them on condos and fancy cars.

Most are spoiled, some are actually hard workers and smart students.

I've heard a term like that, yeah. One of my roomates at school was like that...not insane wealth, but his parents had enough to send him to a foreign university and pay for everything. He eventually wanted to drive (terribly, might I add, took him 3 tests to get his license, the first of which he failed hilariously) and have a car, so his dad simply wrote him a check - and he bought a loaded new Accord V6. He actually had me with him, to make sure nobody took advantage of him...but I will admit I didn't negotiate very hard He was a decent student and a nice guy though, not like some of the jerks. Exceptions to every rule.

Actually now that I remember it, he was afraid to drive that car when he took delivery - so he had me drive him around in it for a few days. Pretty funny.

One guy that worked with us was telling me of his "friends" that livged in the same building as him. One has a new GT-R, and a CL63 AMG, and another onee just got an Audi R8, and another got something else.

I see kids driving in Aston Martins around here too.

Yeah, that is something I have noticed in that area for awhile. I remember maybe 10 years ago walking on Burrard and seeing a kid in a F355 Spider who was doing a laughable job operating the transmission. I rarely see such shenanigans with young people in my neighborhood...at most a kid dorking around in mommy's Range Rover or daddy's high end Porsche. Cops around here are usually strict, so they don't flaunt speed too much.

I tried to sell a SC range Rover sport to a kid like that from Turkey.

Truly insane money but a decent enough kid. Was trying to trade in a beat 335i hard top vert that was probably the second or third sold in the state. He had managed to do a number on the paint in 8,000 miles though.

Most of the satellite kids here are from Hong Kong and China.

When I worked at my old Honda dealer, there was a lot boy working at another dealer across the street for $8/hour, but he was driving a brand new black Land Rover Sport, right when they just came out. Crazy.

My old roomate was from Taiwan. He said his father drove a big old MB, a very unusual car there. He didn't know what it was...so I gave him a book and had him point it out. He was sure it was a W126. Those have to be uncommon there...although many were sold in HK. He'd sometimes go with me out in the fintail...he got a kick out of something so old, and maybe it gave him a little feeling of home, too.

I remember he also said Ford Taurus and Nissan Altimas were considered to be high class cars there.
