Hi kyfdx -- Interesting comment on the range per thousand of MSRP for X3 leases. What's your advice on the best way/best month to go for a lease deal on an X3 in order to capture the lower end of that range, especially in light of the upgrade that BMW is supposedly doing on the '07 X3?
Thanks!

At this point, I'm wondering if there might be some dealer incentives on the '06s starting in October, because the '06 and '07 lease program have virtually the same money factors and residuals.. (no idea if there really is).

The key to getting a good lease deal on the '06 is to get a price near dealer cost, and getting the base rate on the money factor... The residual for the '06 X3 is 65% for 3yr/45K.. That is ridiculously high, considering how late it is in the year..

For example, an '06 X3 with MSRP of $43K, and a selling price of $40K, would have a payment of around $486/mo.+tax.. That is with just 1st pymt, security deposit and title/license upfront.. 3yr/45K.

More good info!! You should think about doing this for a living.....

So $486 means they're using a .00195 MF, correct? Is that the current base rate? Not bad. Especially if the MFs and residuals are the same for both the '06s and '07s, as you say. Guess I'd better check Prices Paid and see what kind of a deal one could get on an '07. Do you think you could get 50% of the spread off on the '07 now, given the fact that they're new, and improved?

I recall finding a post from you on 2/23/06 where they were using a .00125 MF at the time, but a 58% residual, I believe. Do you recall why the MF dropped down so low at that time? Is that historically typical for BMW, or more a function of then current market conditions? I'd really like to hold off and get an '07 in 3-4 months, but one never knows what the winds will bring in the car business, does one? What would you do, knowing what you know?

Lastly, do most of the manufacturers establish a money factor at the beginning of the calendar month and stick to it throughout that month? If you tell us certain MFs and residuals are in effect will they typically last through the end of that calendar month?

Thanks!

1) I think BMW lease deals tend to be the best in February and March, generally... Just anecdotal evidence, though..

2) Usually a lease program will stay the same all month, unless it is improved.

3) The 65% residual on the '06 X3 is probably in lieu of dealer cash incentives, now that I think about it.. At some point, though... the lease deals on the '06 will disappear... If there are any left, they'll probably put dealer cash on them, and then the only good deals will be on purchases..

4) Yes, I figured that lease with .00195 MF and 65% residual.

I am ordering a 530i as soon as I find a dealer that is a straight shooter.........but i was going to be charged l200 for automatic....when you build a BMW on the BmW site that is an option. So where did you see that it isn't an option? I don't want to pay for something if it isn't an option? thanks for the info.

Leased an 2007 X3 for 1074.52 down and 614.00 per/mo for 24 months. It was 601.00/m for 3 yrs and 607.00/m for 30 months. But Sales person said why go for 30 months, you'll pay for registration for half a year and lose the rest.

I have most every option but stayed away from the sport package, to stiff of ride although some may like it. Excellent power from the new engine. Only a few out on the lots at several dealers. I had to order one due to all the options. Price was 47,895.00MSRP but was able to get it for 45,595.00.

dtm1. You don't say where you live, or if this is an after tax figure. If you live in California, and use the base 7.75% tax rate, then the selling price would be $44,810 to arrive at a payment of $582.27 including 7.75% tax. That's $485 off of MSRP. You can probably do better. Ask your sales person what the selling price is.
