Replying to: jaybird12 (Dec 03, 2008 7:06 pm) i have a '05 dbl cab off road, my light came on about a month ago and i took mine in to the dealer. i have a 100,000 bumper to bumper warranty, i now found out it isn't so bmpr to bmpr. They told me that the computer behind the driver air bag went out and that the warranty does not cover it and that i need to shell out $890 bucks to get it replaced. i dont know what is going on, i was waiting to hear if someone else was having the same problem. my compass/temp went out (another $1,000) but the warranty people covered that. i guess when i am laying in the middle of the road dying from an injury because my airbag doesn't work, at least the EMS people will know what the temp. is outside and which direction i was facing. i haven't replaced my computer yet, i dont know if i will. i looked into it a little bit and have not been able to find any recalls. if i find one, i will be sure to post it on here, anyone else, PLEASE do the same.   Thanks, Wayne Replies to this message: jaybird12 (Dec 03, 2008 9:31 pm)

Replying to: sae (May 01, 2008 9:27 am) had the same thing happen on my '05 dbl cab. The other problem with my airbag light being on is that my truck will not pass inspection in MA until it is fixed. My next move will be to try and find a local machanic that can splice these wires until I figure out what Im going to do in the long run.

Replying to: wsuiter (Dec 03, 2008 8:32 pm) I own a 2005 tacoma and the srs(airbags) light came on and and its been on for a good while. I connected the comp to it and it game a PO198 code. Does anyone know that that means? The comp says the code info is not available. Looked it up on all data and that code is not even listed.

I have a Ford Bronco II Eddie Bauer Edition that a friend gave me. I need to have it smogged but cannot get it passed due to a missing hose. I do not see where the hose should connect to stop the escape. Does anyone have a similar truck that you can help me find the solution to my problem. I would rather do it myself and save some money on it. Just to have the diagonistic it will cost another $100. Maybe some one out there can give me some info. Thanks,

At 90,000 miles my 2006 Toyota Tacoma (Extended Cab, 4WD, 6 cy, auto, TRD) came up with the following problems:   1 & 2) air bag light went on - a coil under the air bag broke and oil pressure sensor wire/harness needed to be replaced because the wire broke ($680 to fix - already done). 3) compass/temp stopped working ($289 to fix - it's not getting fixed). 4) oil leak - timing chain cover needs to be resealed ($1400 to fix - going in today)   Those are the bad things, but they are the first problems and my front brakes lasted 85,000 miles and my rear ones have not needed to be replaced. I went through brakes every 30,000 to 40,000 on my last truck, which was a Ford Ranger. Replies to this message: bigandy (Jul 01, 2009 10:04 pm)

Replying to: kwing (Jun 30, 2009 5:34 am) Regarding the compass/temp problem, you can fix it yourself if you know how to solder. There's only one screw holding the whole unit in place. Push it toward the front of the truck and then pull down to get it out. There are two cable groups that unplug and and then get the circuit board out. Resolder the two resistors marked "510" and you're back in business. If the compass needs to be reset there is TSB available that shows to do it. Google the TSB.

I have a 2006 4 door Sport V-6. I have had it since new, and it currently has 45,000 miles on it. I just started noticing (or it just started happening) a noise that sounds like a spark plug knock. It occurs when you accelerate between 40 and 50 mph. It is similar to the sound I used to hear with the old GM V8s. It is a knocking and pinging sound. Since day 1, I have used unleaded regular. If any one could give me any insight or perspective on what to do, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Is this true that : 1/ Tacoma 2004 and earlier used timing belt ??? 2/ Tacoma 2005 and later used timing chain ?? 3/ Tacoma has switch to 2.7 engine due to bigger chassis , in what year ??
