I'm planning to buy door edge guards also. Two sources I've located online are:

"On each side of the bed near the wheel wells, about 8 inches above the botom of the bed there are indentations that you can place a 1 X 6 or 2 X 6 into across the bed. One at the front and one at the rear that I suspect is for supporting 4 X 8 sheets of stuff that is wider than the wheel wells. I haven't made the supports yet, but I'm pretty sure it would work fine. I plan to screw a 2X4 vertically under the 1 X 6 to make it more of an I beam (T Beam more like) so that the support doesn't bow under load."

A.) Your observation is correct on the indentations.

B.) Don't bother with the T beam, just use a 2x6 instead of a 1x6.

I've had my truck loaded way beyond capacity with sheet goods, and the support won't bow. The sheets spread the load across the supports. Some of my loads would either make Toyota engineers cringe, or maybe smile a little.

Hope I saved you some effort!

1/4 mile run by bluetaco1

I got a chance this weekend to run my stock 05' 4 door 4x4 tacoma before I do any performance upgrades. Out of 7 runs I averaged 15.76 with my best run at 15.55. This definatly exeeded my expectation's. Now I just need some company's to exeed my expectations by creating a supercharger, coldair intake, header's, exhaust, and a chip. Any body find any of this stuff yet?

Where did you get the bed mat for $53 (including S&H)? My dealer's parts department wants $80.

I purchased my mat for $55.00 from my local Toyota dealer. I found a $55.00 price online, printed it out, and asked the dealer to match the price. I paid sales tax on the mat and no S&H. This is how I've purchased all of my accessories.

That's strange. I ordered door edge guards from my dealer and they installed them. You might try another dealer. Good luck.

I've had the same problem. Got our truck with 4 miles on it. Driving back from the dealer (a 250 mile drive) - after being on the highway where the power steering disengages - it didn't kick back on when slowing down to taking a left turn off the highway. Had to do some extreme muscling - did it two other times as well. We only have around 250 miles on it right now because we are driving the 4-runner until we sell it - but the problem hasn't shown up recently. Was hoping it was just a breaking in issue. I'll post if the problem persists - and would like to hear of others having this issue and any resolutions.

I got mine for $59 + tax, no s/h from a local Toyota dealer by showing the parts guy internet prices. The whole price match thing was surprisingly easy.
