It is about 8" square. There is more info on the cabin air filter in previous posts.

Lots of people have done it. Go the the parts department and they have a kit to do it. You just have to drill holes in the bed and bolt it down. It's a two person job because there has to be somebody under the truck to hold the nut. But it's still easy.

Bed Pockets?

My 2005 Tacoma Double Cab is my first truck. So maybe I'm an idiot, and maybe this has been asked already, but what are the "pockets" on top of the wheel wells for? I'm not talking about the small indentations on top of the wheel wells, but the ones deep things behind there.
I'm debating either building or buying a rack for a canoe, and I was wondering what people knew about how to anchor it down?

i dont think thats such an issue - is it ? even if the bike is 220lbs - if all you're doing is making sure it doesnt move around - you're not putting anywhere near 220lbs on any side? especially if you use 2-3 tie downs - its spread out - just making sure it doesnt move around anymore. i was going to do the same - i didnt think it was a problem - havent done it yet.....

I reviewed the posts about the cabin filter and the size is 8" x 8.25".
It's such an easy improvement... I'm headed to buy a A/C filter to cut to size tonight.

They have to put that pocket there because of how they assemble the bed. I think there is a big bolt behind there. But you can use the pocket for a small storage area. I mounted lights in there to light up the bed.

I agree with you Thistle, the mat is a good investment. I bought one for my truck also.

Didn't happen on my Tacoma but experienced intermittent power steering failure on my Volvo. The dealer could not duplicate the problem when they drove the car so they had it for almost two weeks. They finally changed the power steering pump and that resolved the problem.
