Yes. It includes 5% MA tax, and after $1000 cash to customer incentives.

Thanks!

I am looking at an '09 Jetta SE in Racine, WI and I have a quote for 18,800 + T,T,L. It ends up about 20K out the door.

I am hoping to talk down to 16-17 out the door, think its possible?

well, off hand I would say that if you can get it for about 19,000 to
19,500 on the road and out the door, that would be pretty good,
You'll never see 16 or 17 K for that car, they just do not have
that much mark up in them. I know an SEL with sunroof in some
places you can get for around 21K on the road. But, I have been
looking at Honda Accords (much better and more reliable car) and
I am in a bidding war right now between two dealers. One is offering
me one with sunroof (EX) for under 21,000 out the door. Over here
(Baltimore) you can get a Honda Civic (basically same size as the Jetta
for around 18,000 on the road. Gotta love those Hondas, best resale
value of anything on the road today and gas mileage is excellent.

can you tell me what dealership this was in MA? I'm looking for an SEL and am going to Wellesley VW today. I have to turn in my Passat lease and am looking ot buy. I think I may want the Jetta SEL Auto. Was this price Manual or Auto? Please let me know where you got it and the exact specs on the car. Thanks for the help!

I just got back from Wellesley VW after checking out the SE and SEL (automatic transmission and no other options). I'm leaning toward the SE. I am hoping people can send me what price they paid (without sales tax)??? Please specify price, fees and where you purchased or where you received the quote. Thanks for your help!

I got quoted 18,800 on an '09 SE without T,T,L initially. Hopefully that gives you a starting point.

I am in SE Wisconsin.

Hrm, I dont know the MSRP really because I didn't go to the dealership but I would guess it was in the range of 21,000-22,000. That's pretty typical for the SE.

I am looking for a pretty stock SE automatic because the SE has so many great features: leatherette, heated seats, moonroof, 6-disk changer, etc.

It was Wellesley VW, and I have done most of my negotiation online. Here are the approximate breakdown:

selling price: $21,167
tax: $1058
title&reg: $86
doc: $263
cash to customer: -$1000

I really want SEL, but like others say, it is expensive compared to other cars with the same size. I think I would need to negotiate a little further.

How was Wellesley VW? Were they willing to work with you on the price?

Thanks!

I just received three quotes today:

Minuteman VW (Bedford, MA) - $18,995 (if using VW financing) + reg, doc, tax.
Boston VW - $18,995 w/o VW financing or $17,995 w/VW financing + reg, doc tax.
Wellesley VW - $19,826 (although I think the MSRP is $22,094 on this as opposed to the other ones at $21,195) + reg, doc, tax.

These were all preliminary offers with no real negotiation. I'm assuming I can do slightly better. Any thoughts??? I am waiting to hear back from all 3 of them to see if there is more wiggle room. Will keep you updated. If anyone has a better deal, please let me know.

Also, does anyone know how much money you would need to finance through VW to qualify? I really don't need to do it, but if I'm getting an extra $1,000 off the price, it may be worth it. I'm wondering if I could finance like $500-$1,000 of it only if I would still qualify for it and get the reduced price. Anyone have any experience with this??? Thanks.
-Jon
