1st Car Buy by Snoopans

I'm currently saving up enough money to flat out buy myself a car. I've been looking into the VW Jetta 09 TDI and was wondering does it smell like diesel fuel and how difficult are owners finding it to find fuel?

I have 600 miles on my 09 TDI no smell at all! In the my local area about 1/2 of the fuel stations have diesel fuel. I use shell diesel fuel.

Just got my wagon yesterday. Paid MSRP, can't find anything below that in NY, NJ or PA. Reserved a car in July but nothing came with my specs, so I had to settle for one without GPS. Would have been nice to have it built in, but dealer said the nav was delaying the production of my car. Don't wanna wait until VW decides to make it according to my spec sheet.

No diesel smell at all, not even when I was standing next to the pump; a little louder engine, but no big deal. Getting adjusted to the diesel engine and its glow plug technology - this is my first diesel car. Very different from the diesel cars my friends drove several years ago, which were sluggish, noisy and belched smoke.

I'm getting 50+ mpg. Not bad at all.

Regular gas 1.89 while ULSD is 2.39 in the NJ area. Most service stations in Metro NY offer ULSD now, but make sure you don't get the truck diesel - they're not always the same as ULSD.

Happy motoring!

Just bought a 2009 Jetta SE, Automatic with Navigation in New York.

Black on Black.

Gave us invoice (according to the dealer and Edmunds) of $22957. Got $6000 for trade of a 03 Jetta with 55K miles in fair condition. 4.9% financing with $6000 trade cash and extra $5000 down came to about $250 a month for 60 months.

Good deal?

How much are dealers willing to discount a TDI Wagon.

I have a chance to get one,it's on the lot, with what I want ,including the right colour.

As it sits right now,it is $900 to $1000 less than invoice.
I told them that I would not pay for the PDI-pre delivery inspection. Is this good? I have been hearing that there is not much downward movement pricewise on SportWagen's with TDI

that really sounds like a pretty good deal to me, I live in Maryland and I am
considering a Jetta SE in the next few months but am torn between buying
or leasing. They have some great lease rates out now. How do you like the
Jetta so far, and what is your actual gas mileage. Is it comfortable and powerful
out on the freeway?

I would say that sounds pretty good to me, I wonder what your residual is
after the 3 years? That is what you could purchase the vehicle for after
the lease is over, should you choose to do so? I am shopping myself
for a possible purchase within the next 6 months but not totally clear
on what vehicle I want yet. I have an O3 Ford Taurus that I want to
downsize. Leasing is ok if you do not go over mileage on it, but can
be pricey if you do............ Good luck with your new one, sounds like
a winner........... buckeyewayne
