Hi all! I am planning to buy my first car at the end of the month and was wondering if anyone has any idea of how much one can reasonably negotiate the price? I was quoted (by email) a price of $19,000 for a 2009 Jetta S w auto transmission, "cold weather package" and iPod hookup. Do you think I can get them down to $15,000 or would that just be laughable (and perhaps rude)?

Replying to: BilKop (Dec 02, 2008 9:17 am) Offering $15,000 is $3,500 below invoice, which would most likely get you laughed/thrown out of the dealership. I would personally try to negotiate by offering something that's invoice or invoice - 1000 and go from there. I am also in the market to lease a 09 Jetta S manual, and would be interested in seeing what others are able to get (in terms of amount below invoice). Thanks, atenb |

Went to a local dealer - Fred Beans Volkswagon of Devon PA and drove and loved it. Told the nice salesman wasn't quite ready to make a decision as I had a few more cars to drive, then would be making mind up this week or next. Was offered SE, automatic, with Ipod adapter and mats (lol) for $21,317. Seems like a semi decent deal from the start - no negotiating yet on my part. thoughts?? Also - Should I be conserned about the questionable reliability or is that a myth? cheers all..... |

Picked my Wolfsburg up for Awesome car........and I thought all they had was the so-so 5 banger or demo GLI that I drove the day earlier. Salesman told me he sold the SE-SEL? "Got a few in, theyre back there"......4 Wolfs.....picked the one I wanted, wow, what a great car. And less than the 5 banger I drove!!

Does anybody know if the $1,000 Loyalty Credit is still available on the Jetta? If I am not wrong, the Loyalty Credit expired on Dec 1st, 2008. Does anyone know if the incentive is still available for the month of December? Thanks a lot! SN |
