Did you just order it or have you already picked it up? Curious because wondering what you think of new pano roof? looks gorgeous and must make car feel spacious. Wondering about road noise? Do you carry gear on top, e.g. skis, bike, cargo box? Also, you live in FL, what about heat or sunshine concerns with the larger sunroof and mesh covering? I've only ever had the harder cover on past vehicles to use and it does provide significant noise reduction and protection from sun and heat. Thanks.

My parents ordered a new jetta tdi last month from a houston dealer for MSRP minus a measly hundred bucks, and with no added "dealer fees". Although this seems like an ok deal if you consider some dealers are trying to add a mark-up (though none in houston did as soon as we told them our dealer wasn't), i can't think of paying msrp as a good deal at any point. i want to buy one for myself, but i will wait, with the economy like it is i think they will HAVE to start discounting eventually. maybe it's a matter of pride more than anything but i refuse to pay msrp on any vehicle!

Also, they told me they can't order the loyalty edition jetta tdi. Why the heck not??? if they are ordering it from scratch, why can't they make a loyalty one?

The "Loyalty Edition" was a limited run, introductory special. Production stopped sometime in late June, and thus you can't "order" one - either they're still around on a dealer lot [highly unlikely], or they're gone. It's not a conspiracy.

should I buy the SE or the SEL? at what price? by pmpkin123

Hi, am in the DFW Texas area, but willing to travel.

First, any idea of whether the bump from SE to SEL is worth it? My daughter will be buying her first VW (automatic of course, with Ipod adaptor, OF COURSE)

She likes the leatherette, and would prefer power seats, but not a huge deal. Sun roof is just okay with her.

Any dealerships I should point towards as being no hassle & honest? Any price I might be able to shoot for?

Thanks

VW North Scottsdale (AZ) is great. ask for warren.

vwscottsdale.com

bought SE - great deal!
MDI nav system has AUX to hook up iPod, and USB drive, great set up and better options versus straight iPod adapter. great deal and so pleasant to deal with. no hassle. they'll give you best price right at the beginning.

good luck!

Jetta TDI - full MSRP plus "Market Adjustment"? by ryandk

Grrr... Are all car dealerships adding on to the MSRP for the Jetta TDI?

The dealership in Bellingham, WA wants full MSRP plus $1500 "market adjustment".

Here's an e-mail I received when I asked about the market adjustment. What a load of bullshit.

Market adjustment is an amount we add onto the MSRP and we do this because the TDI's are in high demand and limited supply. Other dealers are marking up their TDI's from $2k to $4+ above MSRP. The TDI's hold their value extremely well. Prime example is my customer who was on our waiting list for 1 year for a 2009 Jetta Wagon TDI. He was the first one on the list and bought our first Jetta Wagon TDI, manual transmission. After 2 weeks of owning it he decided he really had to have an automatic so his daughter could drive it too. He traded it in for what he paid (MSRP + $1,500) and we turned around and sold it again for even more. It was on the lot for 1 week.

Are you interested in our 2009 Jetta TDI Sedan? Would you like to come in to see it?
