I just bought a 2002 chevy malibu with 15k miles. the a/c is acting up, the lights blink on and off, the a/c goes on and off, the outside vent won't go off. Any body have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks Replies to this message: peterfa (Jul 22, 2005 6:05 pm)

Replying to: pao (Jul 11, 2005 2:27 am) I was thinking the same thing. If there's an Exxon nearby when my father fills up it's the only place he considers. I've sent him this list though.   (We've discussed GM recommendations, fuel octane, fuel brand before. He's a big proponent of big name [ Exxon ] and high octane [ 91 or higher ] in all of his vehicles, regardless of what the manufacturer recommends.)

and we have lots of Arcos here in S.Calif.   No Vallero either, but Vallero processes high sulphur oil and I suspect their gasolines are second or third tier. Chevron's Techtron additive comes in handy when using the lo qual stuff.

I have had my mechanic flush the trany fluid a couple times on my 88 Lesabre. He uses no special tools. The Amsoil web site has detailed instructions which are exactly how my mechanic did it. This may not work on all cars and it needs to be done carefully to prevent damage to the trany. Just dropping the pan and changing filter get out less than 2/3 of fluid. I always change out the filter while I'm at it. It is a good way to get synthetic fluid in the trany if your car did not already come with it. It wouldn't hurt to check with someone who knows your car before doing this, however.
