Just picked up my new 04 (left over) Maxx LS a couple days ago. The dealership we went to was about a 4 hour drive from where I live, so it was great getting to drive our new Maxx for those 4 hours after we picked it up. The dealer screwed up and ended up giving us a HUGE discount off the price to make up for it. They also misquoted the price on the perma-shine rust/paint/fabric protection, so I got that for almost half price. This was the first time that screw ups ended up benefiting us in the end. About 600 klms on it now and I'm loving every bit of it. We got the Medium Gray Metallic with the Gray Interior. My favorite feature is the remote starter. What other car has a remoter starter in it from the factory??? |

Replying to: csandste (Apr 29, 2005 8:37 am) However the 2004 Malibu was the FIRST to have such a feature as OEM What is very, very cool about OEM system is that it is so well integrated into the vehicle electrical system - there are hardly any additional parts or wiring required. This differs significantly from an aftermarket remote starter which requires a bunch of wiring modifications and often the aftermarker disables the factory anti-theft system in vehicle I believe for 2006 that all Malibus will be built "remote start ready" so that even if vehicle on lot didn't have the option it is very easy for dealer to add it. |

Don't like warming up an engine. I realize that the dangers aren't that great with fuel injection, but the idea of having a warm engine and roaring off with other components ice cold doesn't exactly impress. That plus wasting fuel. Get everything moving SLOWLY and at the same time, I say. |

Hello all New to the forum with a 2 day-old silver 05 LS sedan with the 1SB package. My wife and I were looking for a solid, safe, easy to drive sedan that gets decent mileage and is affordably priced. I'm from a loyal toyota family so this was treason, but I rented one a few months back and have been thinking of malibus ever since. I think the new models are great value, and we'll see how this one does! Great forum, helped me get a decent price and know ahead of time the experiences many people are having. Great car! |

Also new to the forum with a new 05 LS. Why Malibu?? It had good reviews and I also got the GM Employee discount. So with six airbags, heated cloth seats, all speed traction control, ABS and tags tax title it was just under $20K. No problems yet but with 650 miles it is too early. |

Im new to the forum, owner of a 04 maxx LS purchased in Nov/04. The first month went fine, but 1500 kms on the car without a problem. Then it happened. New Years(-30c) i used my command start as i usually do(love the command start) and before the 10 min cycle was up I had my key in the ignition. Drove 3 blocks to the local mcdonalds got my order and started to drive away when i noticed my temp gauge was cold but i had heat. Pulled to the side of the road to turn off the car in hopes to reset it. It wouldnt restart....And because it was New Years there was no dealers open for me to call. I call roadside and just as they call the truck for me the car started but the gauge still didnt work. Got it home and it was working fine. Next day i use my command start, go to IGA and leave my car running. Go promptly to the gas station, fill up, go to drive away and it would not start. Half an Hour later it was towed. Next day at the dealer ship it started first try and every try after. ok... minor electrical glitch. Understandable. Had the diamond coat/undercoating and stuff added to my car, since then my heating and a/c smells like skunk occasionally. But always when im not at the dealer. Then i had the key stuck in the ignition problem. Went in 3 times before they belived me i had a problem. They replaced it twice. No more problems. 6 pack cd changer. Replaced twice and the new one has been reprogramed twice. Works fine now. Until last month my car would turn over fire a couple times and shut off, it would do this 2-3 times before starting. I had it in 5 times for this problem and and evertime there was no fault found. Finally i had enough and called GM Customer Service, my car was in the shop 3 days. No loaner car, and no fault found. But it hasnt done it since so im happy. Altogether my car as spent 1 month worth of time in the shop and i only have 15,310 kms on it. I am very Displeased with this cars reliability. I do love the gas mileage, 37 mpg average on the hilly alberta highways and 23 around town. Also happy with the reclining rear seat, picnic/parcel shelf, stereo sound when it works, driving dynamics except the wheel hop around corners, driving comfort with the pwr pedals, seats, tilt/tele steering wheel. Command start is a very welcome change to my last car(94 T-bird v8), also the winter drivability compared to my t-bird. Factory tires were more than able on snow and ice. Also disapointed with the resale values. I paid 26,000 plus taxes with extended warranty and now the book value is only $16,000 with 15,000 kms. Its depreciating faster than i can make payments so im stuck with this car till the end off my lease. Future mods: 2006 Malibu SS front and rear bumper install, gold paint job, new wheels for summer, a K&N air filter from the 4 cyl malibu, and new struts and tower bar. Might as well make it livable if im gonna keep it. Looking for some thoughs on a custom roof rack. The yakima or the thule ones are not very pretty. Aside from that have a GREAT SUMMER!
