My dealer told me that the 2009 Aveo's 1.6 L. engine has 108 h/p compared to 103 h/p in the 2008 models. Does 5 h/p bring a big difference in a car? I might buy one but I'm still wondering. I only do city commuting but I take 1 long vacation trip every year crossing the Appalachians or the Rockies. Would this car be powerful enough to cross those steep mountains? |

In 2006 I took a 3-week vacation through the Rocky Mountains. My journey crossed seven states. I flew to Denver and rented the Aveo Sedan. I put 3200 miles on the car, so I got a very good impression of its virtues. First, seat comfort was excellent. I have a bad back and had no problems throughout the trip. Fuel economy was a solid 40 mpg. At times in Colorado I had to climb some very steep grades and have to say the car struggled. And my vacation was a solo trip (cant imagine how worse it would have been with additional passengers/weight). But taxing the engine wasnt that common and overall it had enough power for most situations. I plan on replacing my car within the next 6 months. So I have had a chance to check out the the current Aveo hatchback. Definate improvement over the older model I drove. But I actually like the Hyundai Elantra Touring better and it may be my next purchase. |

My wife and I are thinking of trading our 2005 Equinox for a new Aveo 5 Any advice before I make my move? I really don't know if I should because once it's done it's to late. Could you tell me what you like or dislike about your Aveo? Thank You!

Replying to: laserblue (Jul 08, 2009 9:46 am) I have a 2007 Aveo 5 with a manual tranny and I really love it. I traded in a 1999 Ford Crown Vic,so I really downsized. I find the Aveo roomier than one would think. I drive about 60 miles a day back and forth to work(about75%) highway and average 33 mph! Droppes a Kenwood cd player and Sirius sat. radio in it and I'm lovin' it. 30,000 miles and so far no problems. Cheers, Steve |

If you had to start all over again, would you still buy an Aveo? If so, Why? If not, Why?

Does someone heard of any changes or "spy pics" for the 2010 Aveo 5? I'd like to know if there's any major changes for the 2010 model. |

Greetings from hot and sunny Guam. I had to replace the tire pressure sensor due to the fact the the guy who changed my tire broke it. But the "low pressure" light on the dash board will not go out. How do I reset it? 2008 Aveo hatchback Thanks Lenny |

I have a 2006 Pontiac Wave (which is the Canada-only version of Aveo). I like my car so far. The 50,000 km (30k mile) mark is coming up. The manual recommended the following things: - replace passenger compartment air filter - engine air filter - replace spark plugs - coolant flush - change brake fluid - inspect a whole whack of things; and - the usual oil change, tire roation etc. All this for regular driving, not "short trips". I don't recall doing all this at 50 k (30k miles) for any of my cars. Googling reveals that spark plug replacement is because this car uses copper core spark plugs whereas most GM cars use platinum ones. Is it just me, or does the maintenance demands seem a bit much? - sandy.
