I have a 07 Aveo 5 and I love it. Living in the Philly subuebs there is not alot of snow experience to speak of,but the car drives well and is roomier than it appears. My last 2 cars were Crown Victoria's so I really down sized. I drive about 75% highway and my fuel mpg's are averaging 33 mph! I call this car "McDonald's" because I'm Loving it!

Calgary...what a nice place, we went there in 1980 for the "Stampede" and my brother in law lives in Red Deer and also lived in Olds. He might work in Fort McMurray next year.
I was born and still living in Ottawa, Ontario.
We are planning a trip with friends from Albany N.Y. to California next year (each our own car) but I'm looking forward to buying a new car before leaving.
I like the Aveo but what bothers me a bit is crossing the Rockies. with a 1.6 L engine. Will it be powerful enough?

By what you said in your post... guess so.

 Thank you!

Traveling in a Aveo 5 by laserblue

Could owners of a Aveo 5 describe how they felt and how it went on a road trip.
   How long was your trip?
   Type of road travelled?
How does this Aveo 5 performed in the mountains? (Appalachians, Rockies or steep hills).
On a long stretch of highway?

Aveo's h/p by laserblue

My dealer told me that the 2009 Aveo's 1.6 L. engine has 108 h/p compared to 103 h/p in the 2008 models.
Does 5 h/p bring a big difference in a car?
I might buy one but I'm still wondering.
I only do city commuting but I take 1 long vacation trip every year crossing the Appalachians or the Rockies.
Would this car be powerful enough to cross those steep mountains?

2006 rocky mountain trip with the Aveo Sedan by sevenseas

In 2006 I took a 3-week vacation through the Rocky Mountains. My journey crossed seven states. I flew to Denver and rented the Aveo Sedan. I put 3200 miles on the car, so I got a very good impression of its virtues.

First, seat comfort was excellent. I have a bad back and had no problems throughout the trip. Fuel economy was a solid 40 mpg. At times in Colorado I had to climb some very steep grades and have to say the car struggled. And my vacation was a solo trip (cant imagine how worse it would have been with additional passengers/weight). But taxing the engine wasnt that common and overall it had enough power for most situations.

I plan on replacing my car within the next 6 months. So I have had a chance to check out the the current Aveo hatchback. Definate improvement over the older model I drove. But I actually like the Hyundai Elantra Touring better and it may be my next purchase.

My wife and I are thinking of trading our 2005 Equinox for a new Aveo 5
Any advice before I make my move?
I really don't know if I should because once it's done it's to late.
Could you tell me what you like or dislike about your Aveo?
  Thank You!

Well,
I have a 2007 Aveo 5 with a manual tranny and I really love it. I traded in a 1999 Ford Crown Vic,so I really downsized. I find the Aveo roomier than one would think. I drive about 60 miles a day back and forth to work(about75%) highway and average 33 mph! Droppes a Kenwood cd player and Sirius sat. radio in it and I'm lovin' it. 30,000 miles and so far no problems.
Cheers,
Steve

If you had to start all over again, would you still buy an Aveo?
 If so, Why?
 If not, Why?

I have a 2007 Aveo sedan, LT trim level. Overall, we are very happy with the car. There are a couple of minor design issues, but as far as performance, it never skips a beat. One of my favorite things about the car is how easy it is to maneuver and park it. It is good on gas but not as good as I thought, but with the newer models this may be improved. The cupholders need to be updated. Currently they are the "pop out" kind and are not very sturdy. If you drink canned sodas then you are in business. They fit perfectly. Anything bigger than that...well....good luck. I hope they design a better console with a storage compartment at the driver's elbow and built-in cupholders.

There are tons of cool features. Sunroof, awesome stereo with 6 speakers and controls on the steering wheel, cruise, 6 disc cd in dash, fog lamps, power everything, etc etc. Good luck. I will probably trade in the next year or so for an Aveo 5.

Does someone heard of any changes or "spy pics" for the 2010 Aveo 5?
I'd like to know if there's any major changes for the 2010 model.
