Toyota Tundra

I have never had any problem with the transmission, except temporary slight difficulty in getting it into 4 wheel drive(low). But even that is trivial..due more to my failure to pay attention to the owners' manual.
I have no doubt many people who post here actually own new Tundras. I also have no doubt that many don't, and either are paid by Toyota competitors, or thru envy, are compelled to criticize the vehicle.
I have personally owned Ford and Dodge pick-up trucks. NEVER have I owned or driven a truck that is as exciting, dependable, exhilarating, and fun to drive, as my 2007 Toyota Tundra Limited doublecab, 4 wheel drive, 5.7 liter engine.
On a grade scale, my previous trucks were "C-", or "D". My Tundra is an "A'.
Enough said.

Yes, I love my truck too. Just have this strange problem with the tranny and ONLY when it sits for about 8 hours. I wouldn't be concerned except I worry about the future and what it may bring???

I also believe that some posters on this forum are here to bash the new Tundra that do not own one or have never driven one. I have a new Tundra 5.7 4 wheel drive 7200 miles only had a torc converter replaced no other problems. It drives and pulls as good or better than any other half ton pick up. There was a poster on here calling himself anythingbuttoy all he did was bash the Tundra. Some things he said
I believe was made up. One recent post was the engine sounding like a diesel and since then there has been a couple more posters saying the same thing. It is like a copy cat.

I can assure you guys and gals that I am the owner of my 07 DC 5.7 4x4. I have not said it is a bad truck. I personally am excited about my Tundra. But with an investment this big I discriminate and fuss over things that seem out of the ordinary. I am accepting that some things are normal. (The woodpecker sound on startup, the sometimes confused trans. shifting and the occasional drive line clunk). My only real complaints are the poorly designed tailgate for those of us that intend to put weight on it and the paint that scratches and chips far to easily. I love the power, traction control, fuel economy, towing, look and even the interior is growing on me but I do think my T100 was a bit more durable. In 12 years after 200,000+ miles I'll know then if it measured up like my T100 did.

For what it is worth, I have been reading the comments from some of the "bashers" and taking it with a grain of salt. Most is to try and make us second guess our choice in truck or tick us off. Some of it is actually useful. I have owned my truck since April, I have 31,000 km on it and other than regular maintenance I have had no issues that needed service. I have noticed a little bed bounce, a little shift change "irregularity", I do notice the down shifting when I take my foot of the accelerator going down steep hills, no morning noise, I have no issue with the instrument cluster and the gas mileage is still averaging 20 mpg (Canadian). This is a truck, not a lexus sedan. I still get contractors and guys wanting to look inside and ask 'how do you like that truck' and they all drive something else and say they really are looking at making it their next purchase, especially when the desiel comes out. This is a serious high performance truck, it has a few flaws, I can live with them and I'd buy it again if I had to. Even my wife likes it and she does care about vehicles, I don't actually let her drive it though. She just navigates. Like I've said before I have owned two other toyotas and this is by far the best truck of the bunch. DC TRD 5.7

Well put ! This is my fourth toyota truck and by far the biggest and strongest. Issues come with all new vihicles.

My friend has had his since March, don't know the mileage but it hasn't been back to the dealer for anything yet. I've borrowed it once and walked away very impressed with its power, ride and interior space. It's a tight, solid driving truck.

Brought my 2007 Tundra 5.7 eng back to the dealer again today. In the morning the trans would slip when pulling out the driveway and every turn I made from a stop. Turns out the trans fluid was low and the driveshaft and seal are to blame, TSB for this problem! They had to put me in a rental because the tras fluid is spraying all over the cat converters and they feared it would catch fire. It was very odd that the trans would only slip when cold and going around turns. I expect when all the bugs are out of the truck it will be great, I still like it!

yep I know what you mean my 07 crewmax just blew a trans gasket and is blowing fluid all over the engine (they rented me a h2 hummer) untill it can be fixed. btw my son closed the tailgate the other day and it crumpled it cost me of $585.00. and the paint is chipping off my dash board as well the paint on the truck is fading and cracking.go figure its only got 2000 miles in it. i just hope no one dies when i crash it into a tree. i still like it.

Just bought an 08 crewmax 2 days ago. Dealer made a big deal about the "break in period", not to accelerate too hard or brake too hard for the first 1000 miles. You guys with the engine noise, did you "pamper" it during the break in period? Just wondering if I have morning noise to look forward to.
