So...according to Edmunds, the invoice price is $12,795 (the car) + $1,204 (power) + $810 (AT) + $731 (AC) + $688 (ABS) = $16,748 total. My dealer called me today, a full 24 hours after she told me she could get the car I wanted from another dealer, and told me that the car has a hold on it because someone put a deposit down on the car between yesterday afternoon and this afternoon. I'm convinced she blew it -- I called her twice yesterday and once this morning to find out if she had secured the car yet, and she said, "We're working on it." Should it really take a day to get a dealer swap together? Come on! Anyway, I don't know what to do now. Are more 3is arriving to dealers, or are they not making many more? Should I wait a few days and see what pops up? Or should I just try to expand my search (more colors, more options) and just settle for a car that isn't quite how I wanted it but is fairly close? Bought a Velocity Red Mica 3i sedan for my daughter end of August. Auto, Airbags/ABS, A/C, Power/16"wheel pkgs. Build date of 6/04. Found the model/options/color using the Mazda search tool. Invoice $16,748 paid $17,055 + tax & tags out the door in about an hour! 700 miles and no problems. A/C is good. She loves it. Great car. Replying to: grenedy (Sep 16, 2004 1:10 pm) My S sedan is 6/04 build date and seems to have good ac.   Could I ask where you're located and/or how hot it's been in your area? Some of the folks unhappy with their ac seem to be in hot humid areas like Texas, and I know that 95 degrees with 90% humidity is worse AC wise than 105 degrees and 30% as I experience here in Fresno. Replying to: jaa37 (Sep 16, 2004 1:01 pm) Dealer swaps can be pretty difficult to do sometimes. There's 3 elements. One is finding a dealer with the car. 2 is getting the dealer to give UP the car. 1 is easy, but 2 is a little difficult...usually dealers swap vehicles, but if the other dealer doesn't want to give it up, you're stuck. Happened to me..they fouund a black one with my specs, but couldn't get the dealer to give it up. Turned out better for me because I don't like black.   Keep on your dealer to find a car with the same specs somewhere else. If you already left a deposit, then they're obligated to try, and to give it to you for the price you've already negotiated. You might be able to get them down another $100 or so if they find one in a different color. You can come out with something like "Well, I really don't like that color...maybe if it was a little bit cheaper I'd take it" and they might sweeten the deal a bit...or they might go look for a different color, who knows?

I am in Northern Virginia. Low to mid 90's and high humidity is pretty typical in August. AC, front defroster work fine. Rear window is a bit too horizontal. Seems not to shed water easily.
