Have your dealer search Mazda inventory around the Northeast. Before I bought mine, I had my dealer (Talarico Mazda in Manchester, NH) do an inventory search for a black one also. They searched as far south as NJ. I ended up with a Winning Blue S instead because the closest black one was in western NY and I didn't want a "new" car with several hundred miles on it. BTW, 3 months doesn't sound outrageous -- I was told at least 8 weeks if I had ordered. Jim PS: I don't know where "near Boston" you are, but if you aren't too far from NH, you might want to drive up to (or at least call) Talarico -- they just got in a whole bunch of 3 sedans and hatchbacks on Wednesday. |

You can search inventory yourself through the Mazdausa.com site. They list MSRP, but the dealer will be able to show you the Invoice price. Unless they are going to flatbed the car for you, you're better off waiting - besides - who wants a car that has been test driven - I want mine right off the boat - not beaten up by test drivers. |

I fully realize Toyota came out with the Corolla in 2002, as a 2003 model. It still puts a redesign not showing up until 2007. The new Honda Civic is closer to reality, but not until 2006 (showing up in late 2005)... So case in point, Mazda 3 for a 1-2 years won't have any major Japanese competitors coming out with a big redesign. The time is ripe for a hefty price increase for the 2005 Mazda3 in Canada (arriving this fall) , if they so choose. |

locating in the northeast has been a big problem and it has caused a big shortage....the reason has to due with emissions. NY, Mass, ME and I think VT are CAL emissions states...the other New England states and surrounding states are not....mazda decided not to ship cal emission cars to non CAL boarder states until later this year.. So, it makes swapping very difficult. Also, you can not buy a non CAL car and register it in CAL states... so those of you doing your own locates need to take this into consideration. Also, those of you doing factory orders, be prepared to wait 3-4 months. Remember, 4-6 weeks of that is shipping from japan and port processing. |

| But then again, I want the 5-speed. And in red or titanium. With the airbag package. And the moonroof. And not much else. | |
| Your dealer must be the problem. The EXACT options and color you want is in stock in Chicago area at multiple dealerships. Your choice of Red or Titanium, both are in stock. There is a large stock of 3's in the Chicago area. Which dealer are you working with? | |
|
Don't be so quick to bad mouth the dealer....are you aware that the consumer located posts the cars when they are ordered by the dealer not when they arrive at the dealership? So with the MZ3 the cars are posted on the consumer locater 3-4 months before they arrive at the dealership. The dealers have access to a "live" locater which is much more detailed. |
