Replying to: garfield3d (Jul 26, 2009 7:42 pm) We decided to bite the bullet on an automatic 2010 Mazda3i Touring (Extras: window tint and wheel locks) for $18,500 OTD. This amounts to a pre-TTL price of $17,206. During the negotiating process, the lowest price that we could get was an untinted 2010 Mazda3i Touring (Extras: wheel locks) for $18,400 OTD. These prices were without any trade-ins. This all happened in the DFW area. Specifically, we ended up purchasing at Town North Mazda in Richardson, TX. Hopefully this information will be useful to others in their car buying process. --Garfield3d

OK ladies and gentlemen, after much dithering and research, with an assist from this site, I got a graphite mica 3i touring manual with a spoiler (sorry to the purists, but the significant other likes the look) for $16,777 OTD. No trade in, no clunker. Truth be told, I had some trouble finding dealerships willing to actually deal due to the traffic from the cash for clunkers hysteria. I e-mailed 7 or 8 dealerships in Oregon, making sure to call the individual I was e-mailing first to find out if they were interested. I actually had a couple of dealerships drop off at the time of the call, one fairly local one saying that they didn't need to enter into a competitive bidding process because they have been able to sell the cars at sticker price. In the end, only one of those e-mails produced an interested dealership, but the price, I think, was right. At least right for me. |

We bought our '05 M3s across the street from our house at Lou Bachrodt. Got a great deal back then with them deleting their dealer fee...was an internet sale. Wife still loves her car and with 67k on it now, no problems except a warranty issue within the 1st few months. Drives very easy still and it can kick ass when needed. She will look at the 2011 model for her next ride among others. Just curious...how did you like the Forte? It's a real looker and if it drives as nice as the current 3, we'll put that on the short list as well. Hopefully she won't want to downsize into a Versa but that might happen as she really likes my kids '09 Versa hatch. We'd get a sedan though but I think the size is a bit small. Nice car...a bit small. But she'll buy what she wants. The Sandman

Luckily, we're still a couple of years out, G-d willing. But I will go give the Forte a test drive within the next few months to get some knowledge of the car. Usually I test a bunch of cars so when the wife comes to me & says she's ready, I'll give her my perspective on each car I've driven. Saves a bunch of time and it'll be easier for her to make an informed decision. The Sandman |
