| Just received my best quote so far. For an 09 i Touring Value with moonroof, 6-cd package, cargo net, wheel locks, auto trans, the mspr was 18,736, inv 17,564, a $1,000 incentive, $500 loyalty rebate, $500 cash back for using 0% financing for three years, plus 6% sales tax, plus $148.50 for paperwork. Final otd price is 16,646.50. I've requested that information in an email, although I already have it in an email, it is kind of messy, so I requested a more clear cut format. Real nice salesman. When I asked him about any used 3 cars, he said with the incentives, rebates, and financing, the new ones were not much more than the 07 models, which is exactly what I've been seeing. | |

Too many hours in front of the computer with too many numbers messed with my brain. The figures on the previous post were correct, but it doesn't have the 6-cd/moonroof package, nor cargo net or wheel locks, that was another car I was looking at. Sorry.

The 08's seem to be about 500-1k below the price of the 09's. Personally, I don't care what year the car is since there's little to no difference between the late 08's and the 09's as long as the car is new and doesn't have many miles (one that I looked at had 350+ miles on it already and it was "new"!!!). There do seem to be some 08's still available and they have a $2k incentive on them, but no 0% financing is available (I crunched the numbers and determined that the difference between the $500 with the promo 0% rate and the $2000 with the 4.9% interest rate I could get with BofA worked out such that the latter ($2k) scenario was about $750 cheaper over the life of the loan (36mo)). |

Thanks Whinnfjord for your input. I've never bought a new car before, so my question is, with the Mazda special offer ending 1/5/09, a Monday, any ideas as to the timing of when to pull the trigger and go for it? I'm very flexible with colors and models, so I'm not afraid of not having a car I like available. Do you attempt to make the move on Saturday, so that you still have time to go elsewhere, and the dealer knows that, or just go on Monday early enough that the dealer know he has the final leverage? The guy who gave me the best price has been real quick and straight with his answers, and his dealership has 100% rating on Ebay from selling cars, plus top awards from Mazda, so I'm thinking of trying to get a little bit more from him and call it a deal. Any thoughts?

If you don't mind, post what you get and the price so everyone else can see what's available. |

My friend ended up putting a deposit down on the car I mentioned above..just to refresh... 2009 Mazda 3s Grand Touring Sedan Stormy Blue Mica Automatic Bose/Sunroof Package Sirius Satellite MSRP: $24,200 She did some more negotiating on her own (I told her to push it just to see how much further they'd go) and this is what they agreed on- Sale Price: $19800 Final OTD Price: $22,600 The car is not in stock and they are doing a dealer locate on it...but seems to be a great deal for a great car. Thanks for all the help!

Replying to: 28firefighter (Dec 26, 2008 6:25 pm) I haven't purchased a new car since 2001, so I'm a bit rusty. We're looking at a 5 spd Galaxy Gray '09 Grand Touring w/ Bose/Moonroof. With 6.75% in taxes, we're looking at $21,929 OTD w/ the 0% financing. $21,429 for outside financing. Sound reasonable? |

| Hello everyone. I have been in the market for a new car for quite some time now and I have narrowed it down to two: the 2009 Hyundai Sonata V6 Limited or the the 2009 Mazda 3 hatchback. Now I realize that these cars are in two totally different classes. But I'm 30, single and don't really "need" all the space in the Sonata but it is nice. Ok so let's get down to it. Love the Sonata's interior although the Mazda 3 interior is functional and looks good as well. I love the Mazda 3 exterior although the Sonata has a nice classy look about it. They both drive nice although different. The Sonata is more smooth and floaty while the Mazda has a much more sporty (but FUN) ride to it. I do spend most of my time on highways so in that way, the Sonata would be better but the Mazda just puts a smile on my face. Can someone with a Mazda 3 hatch convince me to buy this? Is it reliable? Can it keep up on the highway when merging with incoming traffic? When I buy a car, I usually have it for at least 7 years so I wanna make sure I'm buying something durable. What do you guys think? Any insight at all would help. Thank You. | |
I'm out in Southern Cali and I just purchased a crystal white pearl 2008 S Touring for 19,000 OTD. The car came with a spoiler (supposedly a 795 dollar non-removable option) and a nice tint job (listed as a 240 dollar accessory). All in all I feel like I got a great deal, I essentially paid 17,000 before tax and license.

This is an update to a previous post: Haven't bought a '09 5dr S sport Auto, though I've tried. I've gotten TERRIBLE results from using the internet/email approach to buying. It seems like the dealerships in central Illinois put the dumbest person in their company on email detail. I'd write to a dealer and request three or four pieces of info on a car and would receive a one-sentence reply that addressed none of my questions. I get the general gist that the dealers didn't even bother to read email inquiries and were only trying to fulfill the basest requirements so that they could remain a certified Mazda "Internet Dealer". I suppose the breaking point was when I wrote back to the guy who had just made me an offer I was willing to accept with the message: "Sounds good, put me in touch with your finance guy so we can hash out the financing." and never got a response. All he had to do was give me his finance guy's phone number and he would have made the sale. After two days of waiting, I decided that I'd rather not hand over half a year's pay to someone this negligent. (This was from Sierra Mazda in Ottowa, Illinois.) I may try to buy again in a month or two, but part of me wants to just screw the Mazda 3 altogether and buy a Nissan 370z when they come out. -Ken |
