Hi I was looking at a 2008 automatic Mazda 3 I Touring Value with sunroof($765) and rear wing spoiler($300). Here is one quote Car Price 17536.17 +destination fee 650 +6% tax = 1091.17 +$200(tag/reg) =19477.34 Total OTD Does this seem okay?? |

| got a OTD of around $18,500 for a 2009 i touring value edition with no extra options in Richmond, VA. 3% tax here. before fees and whatnot (300 dealer fees) they went down to $100 over invoice. I didn't buy. | |
| Here in Cary NC, I was offerred $500 below invoice on 08 or 09 3's. I'm also trying to drive a 09 Honda Fit sport 5 speed today. What sucks is when you're ready to buy with no trade (sold it), you can find a car to save your life. But when you have a trade in, everything's available, and you car isn't worth jack diddly. I had to rent a car yesterday. | |

Help!! guys, I just got a quote for $20,300 (before tax, tags, and dmv) for a new 2009 4 door, 5 speed auto S GT w/bose option. I live in the philly area and this quote is a well below other quotes in the area. Is this a good price? The sales lady said we beat all competators and have the lowest price, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what the lowest price should be, as she seemed a bit too easy to negotiate with, so I bet the bottom line isnt close to the figure above. Please help with comments or suggestions. Thanks! |

Over Labor Day I tried to get a 2008 5 door manual in Atlanta with 0% but none available. E-mailed a few dealers and bought a 2009 5 door “S” touring in metro grey mica with 5 speed manual, stability and traction control, auto dim mirror with compass and homelink…it was on the car….., dealler added wheel locks, rubber cargo mat and extra key and key fob for 17950 plus tax. Sticker was 19,770 not including the $50 cargo mat, $50 wheel locks and $125 extra key and fob. Radio displays outside temp but did not see this listed on sticker so it must be standard Tax was 7% and doc fee was 399. Invoice on Edmunds is $18,543 with the options above. TMV price from Edmunds is $19,795.Figure I got it for about $200 below invoice if I include doc fees in price. They made a little. Dealer holdback is 2% and there must have been some end of month incentive My out the door was $19634. I have 4.4% financing at credit union for 36 months but will pay off in 12. Rented a couple of Mazda 3’s on business trips and was impressed so got this for my son to replace a vehicle that was totaled by a woman talking on a cell phone. Bottom line is about 2k above a 2008 if I include finance costs and the included options I did not originally want. Needed a car yesterday so I felt I did pretty well for doing the whole deal, from starting to look to buying, in less than 5 days. FYI Upromise cars gave me the best starting price.. You need to be a Upromise member to use the site. While it does not reflect real time inventory, it does get you a starting price that when I used it was 300-500 below invoice. YMMV as I was at the end of model year and end of month. Really wanted my son to get an auto 5 door 2008 which was a whole lot less esp with 0% but he would not bite. He has a full ride to college so the car is money I don't have to spend on tuition. 1 car equals one years tuition, room and board. I figure I am even since he is going into his senior year

Replying to: tsinoy (Sep 18, 2008 1:06 pm) FYI I actually got a little bit better price from Rick Case but they would have had to drive the car in from South Carolina...if I would have stayed with a 2008. Jim Ellis in Marietta and Hennesy in Southlake also put bids on the table and likely would have come in pretty close but I needed to move fast. Did all of the prelims on the internet. FYI you can go to the Mazda site and see inventory in real time. The dealer sites are not good. Going to Mazda.com was how I was able to tell where the car one dealer quoted on was located and helped me move a little quicker. It was 200 miles away and I did not wnt the first 200 mile put on by one of their drivers I also found that sales are way off and they are really willing to work a deal. Go the internet and Upromise routes and then follow-up from there. I would shoot for about 300 below invoice, let them get their 2% and their too high doc fees and you should be golden. Good luck |
