Hey kdiesel.

I got my son's Mazda3i touring value, automatic for $18,252.64 out the door from Riverside, CA Mazda. The tax rate was 7.75%. It was $16,679 without taxes and fees, but we got the 2009 ($400 more) model because they didn't have the metro gray in the 2008.5 model. If we had chosen another color in the 2008.5 model, it would have been $16,279 or less than $17,852.64 OTD.

The dealership also gave us a full tank of gas. I was a little peeved that we drove 30 miles and they didn't have the right color in the 2008.5 model when they said they did, but metro gray is the most popular color in this area due to it's dark metallic color, and we still got a great price for a 2009 model. A lot of dealers did not carry the metro gray because the color came out late in 2008, and it sells fast.

Thanks for sharing your story.

Looking to purchase a 2008 3i touring value with manual transmission in Central Ohio. I have seen purchase prices between $15500-$16500 over the last couple months. It seems July was a better month to purchase. Prices are creeping back up this month. Is this a good month to purchase or should wait for sometime in September or even November? Based on what I have read so far, a $17500 OTD price including the 6.75% taxes and $250 documentation is an good price. What was the lowest price that you got in Central Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Eastern PA, South East Michigan and from which dealer. I do not mind having to travel 2-3 hours from Columbus Ohio to get a good deal in a nearby State.

I am looking at a 2008 mazda3 hatchback sport edition in black. I got a quote from the dealer today for 20000 OTD. It was 19110 before TTL. I think this seems high, but I don't know if it's because of where I am geographically. It seems like most of the people in this forum who have gotten lower prices have been in other regions. I believe the invoice is about 18500 according to consumer reports. The salesman was absolutely unwilling to negotiate (today at least). The dealership offers perks like free oil changes for 3 years, free inspections for life, etc., and these add some incentive for me, but I am feeling stubborn about accepting this offer as he wouldn't even throw me a bone of taking a few hundred off. I have emailed a couple of other dealers, but they have not responded with actual quotes. Opinions?

That is an excellent price for the touring edition. I wish I could get the same price in Central Ohio. Do you know the car's invoice price? FYI, I was in a dealer's auction on Tuesday and bid on a 2006 Mazda 3i touring with 12000. It was sold for $14,000 (trade in value $11,000). I walked away thinking that the used car market for small 4 cylinders is in high demand and we are better off purchasing a new car because you are only paying a couple thousand more than a 2 year used one. Good deal.

Also in your opinion is the GT a better value than the GS.
Have you checked the Promotions page in the Mazda Canada site under Ontario and selected "August Offer Summaries"? The 2008 Mazda3 Sport GS has a $3700 discount; "MSRP now starting at $17,395".

The MSRP for the 2009 Mazda3i touring value edition, automatic was $17,795 + $50 for the wheel locks, and $670 for the deliver, processing and handling fee = Total MSRP $18,515. We bought it for $16,679 or $1,836 off the MSRP.

Please note that the 3i touring does not have the side curtains, foglights, antilock brakes, etc. that the 3i touring value edition has. The side curtains are important because the i touring wasn't rated very high in terms of safety. We bought it for our teenage son and thought the safety feature was important. We ran across the same issue in So. Calif. The price for small used cars is just a couple thousand cheaper with a lot of miles, so we bought a new one. Good luck.

Looking at purchasing a 2008.5 MS3. Being quoted the following:

MSRP: $25,170
Invoice: $23,532 (Edmunds)
Selling price: $24,527

The selling price is about $500 less than TMV on Edmunds. Any thoughts on whether this is a good deal?

Hi folks,

I am looking to buy an '08 4 door Mazda 3 s GT w/bose option. Since it's the model year end and last week of the month I figured I'd get some good quotes. the Lowest I got was 21,939 for the Stromy Blue color. The thing is on KBB the invoice is 20,788, on edmunds its a bit higher. the price of $21,939 is everything but tax & tags. is this a good price? What tactics should I use to lower the price OTD?

#3648 of 5090 08' Mazda Sedan 4D, good deal or not? by usrich

Aug 27, 2008 (10:15 am)

One dealer at Dallas area offer me the following prices for 08' Mazda Sedan 4D:

1. $17,000 (OTD) for 2008 Mazda MAZDA6 i Sport, one-time cash payment.

2. $ 15,035 (OTD) for 2008 Mazda MAZDA3 i Sport (auto transmission), 0%APR & 0%DOWN. (manual window)

3. $ 16,984 (OTD) for 2008 Mazda MAZDA3 i Touring, 0%APR & 0%DOWN.

4. $ 17,750 (OTD) for 2008 Mazda MAZDA3 i Touring VE, 0%APR& 0%DOWN.

Actually, I prefer MAZDA6. Is that possible that I can get better deal in town. For example $17000 with 0% APR or even less than $17000 with 0% APR? Any thoughts? How about the other 3 offers for MAZDA3? I will buy this week, really need help. Thanks a lot!!!

possible that I can get better deal
Not unless you try! Why not email the other dealerships and quote the price that you are being offered and ask them to best it?
