Carolina Mazda in Rock Hill, SC (about 10 miles south of Charlotte, NC) - best car buying experience I've ever had. They did a dealer trade to get the color / options I wanted and I had no suprises along the way other than how easy it was. I took delivery of the car last Tuesday and I love it - already put 500 miles on it. Some early observations: THE GOOD- - Bose soundsystem is much better than I was expecting after reading some comments here. My only explanation for some not liking it is that they are "young-uns" looking for bloated boomy bass. I listen to jazz and classic hard rock (everything from Coltrane and Miles to Sabbath and Montrose...) and it sounds great to me. - The navigation system is fantastic. Again, after reading some comments here I was expecting almost no functionality once the vehicle was in motion - but it only locks out functions which require use of the onscreen keyboard. A good safety feature if you ask me... - The car just flat out drives better than anything I've owned and is simply amazing for the money. THE BAD - - The carpet just plain sucks... there's no other way to state it. The included mats aren't any better either - they slide all over the damned place... I'm trying to figure out a way to keep them in place. - Carpeted dead-pedal is a huge oversight too, they could have thrown a $2 hunk of plastic there and it would have been better. - No trunk pop button on the key fob is incomprehensible as well I love the car and look forward to driving it every day though - just great fun. |

Replying to: sandstorm4 (Mar 27, 2006 7:17 am) The April '06 issue ranks the reliability and owner satisfaction as follows: Mazda3 - Reliability: "Very Good" (4/5) Owner Satisfaction: "Excellent" (5/5) RAV4 - Reliability: "Excellent" (5/5) Owner Satisfaction: "Very Good" (4/5) That being said - I was purchasing a new '06. The '04 was the first model year of the Mazda3 and I'm always a bit leery about first model years... it's the year they get all the "kinks" figured out. Below is a "snapshot" of the Mazda3 report from MSN-Auto Consumer Reports - Mazda3

Just ordered a Mazda 3 5-door Touring package with automatic transmission and no other options. Got internet pricing from the four dealers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area and got a quote at $17875. Ordered it in Winning Blue and it will be here soon. Internet pricing is definitely the way to go. Good luck shopping!

Allright guys.. the sales man just called me back and said that this will be his L-A-S-T call/offer. WIth my protégée as a trade in, he can give me the car for $12,528. Thoughts? I certainly don't want to lose his interest or lose the car. But all I got is 12K Of course I could add that $528 to the finance but I rather not. If you guys think I should stick to the 12k, how should I approach the sales man from here? What could I say? Thanks |

Mazda3 s GT, Auto, with the Bose package (none of the dealers in my area carry plain GT, they all have the bose package), $21,298 before tax & license. Good price? It's below edmunds TMV, but is there more room to bargain? thanks |

I picked up my 2006 Velocity red 3S touring five door with automatic,sunroof,6 disk CD, leather interior, wheel locks, cargo net and step plates. The dealer wouldn't go much below Edmunds TMV. The car was in the showroom when we went to buy it. It had 11 miles on the odometer, and the interior covered in plastic. Sticker: $20,700, invoice with advertising adjustment $19,500. Price was $19,995 plus tax and registration/plates, no other fees. i bought it at Smith-Cairns Mazda in Yonkers, NY. We picked it up and drove from White Plains NY up twisty, scenic NY route 22 in the evening sunshine. All I could hear were the wows from the the driver and my wife! The car is outstanding and a fabulous color. I'm glad I went through the time and trouble of locating one. Now the zoom-zoom begins.

Replying to: ostiaantic (Mar 30, 2006 6:06 pm) The color is amazing - and I've never had a car that corners as well as this one does... seems like you got a good deal as well. My buying experience was one of the easiest I've ever had. |

| Just picked up last night at Tracy Mazda in California. Tried to buy at Modesto Mazda, terrible experience there, they wanted 20,500 for the same car and acted like they were doing me a favor. Do not recommend them at all. | |
