What are my options?? by dairyshick

I had a message on my phone yesterday from the finance dept at the dealership. All they said was that I had to stop by to sign some papers as soon as I had a chance. I tried calling back to see what it was because I haven't been able to stop by yet, but the finance guy I dealt with wasn't there, so I still don't know what the papers are.
What exactly could this be for? I bought the car back in late december with a rate of ~6.7%...All I can think of is a change in the finance rate or signing the title?? If this is a change in the finance rate (i'm sure it would be for the worse!), what happens if it's a totally crappy rate and I don't sign? Can I just give the car back and walk away? I traded in a car as well, so how would that work. Is the finance rate still negotiable?...Any ideas or comments?

As a reference I purchased today a M3, GT, 5-Door, manual, with Bose/Sunroof, Sirius Sat. Radio, wheel locks, for $19,488 (not including TTL).

How does this compare with others?

Take a look at your sales contract - is it signed by a manager? By signed I don't mean a typed name or a rubber stamp - but a real signature.

Is there a statement in the contract that says something like - the deal is not final until financing is approved - and that could take up to 6 weeks?

I have read this kind of statement many times - I always make them change it - once I drive off the deal MUST be done - final. If they say - its Saturday - take the car - we will have the finance company finalize it next week - say NO thanks - I will wait.

My neighbor bought a Rav-4 - got called back three weeks later - his trade in was gone - already sold - they said his credit came up short - they needed a higher rate - it was ONLY about $50 per month (rate went from 8% to 13.5 / 60 months) - he ask me what I would do - I told him to go get a loan at his credit union.

Anyone wonder why car dealerships have such a bad rep - this is why.

BTW - the car dealerships have a name for taking your trade in - selling it and then making you sign a higher rate loan.

They call it DE- saddling (not sure of the spelling) but you get the idea.

The only good thing about this kind of life experience is its is a lesson that you will never forget - unlike the things you learn in school that are easy to forget - the things learned in the school of hard knocks last a life time.

I had to sign something that was missed in the paper work, like a month later. Had nothing to do with a material change (not even sure what it was - something about my trade in, I think). So it could be something simple like that.

Funny part is this: I'm at the dealership waiting room getting the first "flush out" oil change, and my wife calls my cell and says a lady from Mazda called. I call her back and she's sitting about 20 feet away, 2 office over. She walked over and I signed the paper. She just happened to call in the half hour I was sitting there? Weird...

Sounds good. I'm looking for a manual GT and am getting similar offers w/o your extras. Where did you buy it?

Rebates or Coupons? by sunsh05

I bought my Mazda 3s a couple of months ago and used both the Zoom Zoom coupon and Mazda rebate. Now my friend wants to buy one (and who wouldn't?), but I'm pretty sure those coupons have expired. Does anyone know if there are currently any other rebates or coupons? Thanks!

Purchased it in MPLS, Minnesota, from Morries Mazda via a fleet dealer using s-plan pricing.

Thanks for the info bk40. I hope you are closer to getting your car.
I was reading on carbuyingtips.com that it isn't a good idea to have your dealer get the car for you from another dealer. They suggest you go buy the car yourself, at the dealer that has it. So you are better off ordering it.
I think you are probably right about the moon roof package, but I would have said, it seems that most automatics don't have the moonroof, at least around here.
I didn't see the Staten Island car, but it's too inconvenient for me anyway. I'm up in The Danbury CT/Orange county NY area, and hoping to get the car at one of the dealers in the area. I hope they get some new cars in. There hasn't been anything new in their inventories since October.

Got the car last Tuesday. Dealer called as promised, said it would be in the next day. And it was, Titanium Gray, 55 miles on the odometer, manual, no options, as requested. So far, I'm very happy with it.
Good luck in your search!

I'm not far from the area your looking and am aware of the inventories in the region...they have had lots of cars delivered since October. Usually twice a month or so. They are just turning the inventory faster than your looking. Almost every shipment of MZ3 we get has a portion of them already sold and they never hit the lot.
